This book is an important, well written study that deals with the language of respect. It illustrates how respect starts with a relationship of equals, which requires empathy and understanding between both parties. This book will be essential reading for any organisation or professional working with people who are disabled, as well as being a valuable resource for those with disabilities. I found it to be a powerful and enlightening read, which includes personal reflection with current theory. R.F. Hunt (Author of The Single Feather to be published 2014)

This is a great little book and does what it says on the tin. It's refreshing to read something that has academic credibility but doesn't feel the need to use long words to impress anyone (though able to when no other word will do). Language is a powerful tool and if you want to use it for the powers of good rather than evil this is a pretty good starting point. "Political correctness made us change the words but not the conversation" says the author. Respect!

A very easy on the eye read that's both informative & sweetly written with hidden kick. You can dip in and out of this handbook without losing the thread. Pull out a passage or two, to inform yourself or others, as and when circumstances require. It's a real gem with just about the right amount of everything going for it. It's essential, 'easy' reading for managers, politicians, media people and just about everyone else that comes into contact with others.
