4.0 out of 5 stars Reaper repo is sweet: this is surely worth $1 26 Sept. 2006

So as of this writing, you can get this disc here for $0.94. Do you know 808 State? If not, they are a Manchester acid house group and this is quality early 90s dance music. This single was taken from their 1993 album Gorgeous, which was a more uneven affair than Ex:El or Don Solaris though it had its moments.

"Timebomb," the single here, is aggressive but silly and rather tongue-in-cheek. Think of it as a bizarre forerunner to Basement Jaxx. The second cut Nimbus is another track from Gorgeous, and it's a classic early-90s 808 dance cut: heavy percussion over industrial synthesizers, soaring atmospherics, and a deep voice saying the name of the song at varying intervals. Good track. Very much in the vein of Cubik and In Yer Face, though not as relevant.

But the reason to get this isn't for those two tracks. Get it for the two versions of Reaper Repo (which are basically the same except one is longer), but they're both absolutely great electronica and one of 808's very best B-sides, and if Reaper Repo had been on the album and some of the filler (helloooo, Sexy Synthesizer) had been axed, Gorgeous would have been much better for it.

So basically, worth $1. Definitely worth $1.
