This CD is an excellent tribute to the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. Many who have not heard of the band will definately have heard of some of the tracks, because these are classics that are timeless. The tunes themselves are very catchy, and after continued listening you will no doubt be hooked on them. They can be upbeat, for example the sensational "Paddlin' Madelin'Home" or softer and more romantic, such as "As Time Goes By". The CD is also an excellent purchase, offering 45 superb tracks. The songs will be familiar to many since childhood, but I guarantee even listeners of today's generation will find something here they will enjoy. A wonderful collection that unearths the true spirit of the time.

This is a good selection from the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. The band contains fabulous players; they are really tight, and the solos are excellent. Not only are most of the songs great, but the band's performance of them is second to none. Great to sing along to, and some of the solos, particularly on the clarinet, have really impressed music students I know.

A couple of my favourite tracks aren't on here, but others of my favourites I've not seen elsewhere. All in all, great value for money, good fun to listen to, and very impressive musically. I'm in my 20s, and this band I love in a way that some other similar stuff I can find a bit dated/boring.

Yet an other brilliant record from Pasadena Roof Orchestra (PRO). This is a band which has been playing for some thirty years by now. The sound is very authentic - it sounds old. I wasn't around in those days but this is probably what it sounded like in the thirties. Half of the tunes are classics like 'Home in Pasadena', 'It don't mean a thing' and 'Georgia on my mind'. Other happy tunes, and in my ear very British ones, like; 'Me and Jane in a plane' and 'Paddling Madelin' home', go between the classics. It's easy listening, it's slightly crazy but mostly it's sheer joy! Buy it now and you will never regret it!

What a brilliant cd. In fact what a brilliant band/orchestra. The sound is reminiscent of the early 20th century, and fun and jolly and makes you want to move your feet. I have taught myself the simple version of the charleston and made up other dances to the 'spiffing' sounds of this era. Fast moving, and brilliant musicians playing jazz together very well. If you want to be cheered up and have fun, or want to dance around your room and ....cheer up, then buy this album. 20's to 30's music, retro sounds brought forward in the respect of clear and crisp sounds, not crackly old cd's digitally remastered. Modern band with the old fashioned twist. Excellent.

From the late 1950's I have loved the Temperance Seven and whilst looking through jazz CDs on Amazon I saw this double CD and bought it. If you like rather sophisticated 1920's and 1930's music with a swing and a little fun this CD is for you. It's great.

This cd certainly brought a smile to my face.I really love it.It reminds me of Jeeves and Wooster. It will certainly put a spring in your step on a dull day.It has a nice mix of melodies many instantly recognisable to some obscure ones such as 'my canary has bags under his eyes' which is so funny when you listen to the lyrics you can't help but laugh.

The son of a chum of mine was leader of the band for a number of years and so I thought it might be nice to have a copy to show ' loyalty '. Forget the loyalty bit , if you are over 40 this is guarranteed to make you feel under 40

Where the Temperence Seven concentrate mainly on 20s music the Pasadena Roof Ork extend that period into the 40s.
Pasadena the song was made more familiar by the Temperence Seven and no doubt named this act and its not such a culture shock as they were when THEY made No 1
The PRO do a few songs of the 60s and 70s in the style such as the Beatles' Honey Pie and Leo Sayer's The Show Must Go On and have other links to current artists such as Brian Ferry whose As Time Goes By album featured half a dozen members of the PRO and David Bowie who they wrote music for via the film which also starred Marlene Dietrich
