Nuclear Dawn is the first game to offer full FPS and RTS experience without crippling or diluting either side of the game.

Manufacturer's Description

Nuclear Dawn is the first game to offer full FPS and RTS experience without crippling or diluting either side of the game.

Play as a soldier in a war-torn post apocalyptic landscape, modelled on modern cities and take the fight to your enemies as armoured, assault or stealth infantry, using various weapons and load outs to accomplish your objectives. Learn your roles, the strengths and weaknesses of each class, and use them to their fullest to lay waste to your enemies, in specially designed environments that force you to exploit terrain and cover to stand a chance in tomorrow’s war.

Then, take Nuclear Dawn above the action and play as the commander. Organise your fellow players in squads, and assign them to tactical objectives. Exploit the terrain and resource point locations to block your enemies’ tactical advance, and crush their plans in an iron fist.

Features:

  • Two distinct factions: The empire and the consortium
  • Four playable classed, each with three sub-class load outs, plus the commander role
  • Over a dozen weapons across the various classed and factions
  • Upgrade weapons, buildings and classes with powerful Golden Age blueprints
  • Build Doomsday weapons with pre-war technology that will give you the deadliest edge in battle
  • Each faction has a completely separate base-building paradigm, with different workflow's and tech trees
  • Travel across the largest, most detailed maps, which are built in engine for multi player to date

USPs:

  • Unique combination of FPS and RTS in a multiplayer game
  • Perfect game balance, thanks to ingenious character classes
  • Large, already existing community
  • In this genre one of a kind Sci-Fi setting
  • Various achievements and ranking system

I bought this game on steam and have played it for around 90 hours so far and I am loving every minute of it! The game itself is an FPS/RTS hybrid where two teams compete to destroy the enemies command bunker. As commander, the player can build structures to advance the front line and support his troops, while as a player you are the commanders troops!

The learning curve can be a little steep for a new player but the included tutorials show you all the basic features that you need to know to survive and win. The commanding side of the game features a lot of tactical and strategical thinking - what route through the map is best for your structures? where do you need your troops attacking? and provides an exhiliarating challenge, while the FPS side features tight, slick gameplay based on the Source Engine (think half life 2)

This game does have its flaws - for example there is only one gamemode at the moment, and only 6 or so maps. However, playing on these maps can be a very different experience from one game to the next, and the developers are releasing new patches regularly, the most recent of which added a new map with another to come in the next couple of months.

All in all Nuclear Dawn offers one of the best team based multiplayer FPS experiences possible, and the addition of the commander role really helps cement it as one of my favourite games!

This is a good game and a cool concept, mixing fps and rts. Unfortunately there is no single player campaign and (writing this in 2016) the multiplayer servers have minimal activity. Unless you want to play against bots or take on the dedicated hardcore few keeping the servers alive this game does not have much to offer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage....don't bother! 4 Aug. 2012

There's a reason this game is dirt cheap! Plus....you need to register with STEAM, and once you do, you cannot sell the game and nobody else can play it on their PCs! Save yourself the money.
