Not wanting to fiddle with wires and magnets I thought what the hell who's interested in GPS anyway?
Then I found out about Strava!!!
I find this perfect for keeping track of my distances, average and top speeds without the added complication of wattage or cadence; it really leans towards keeping a simple training diary
Possible downside, if epic rides of five hours plus is your game, would be the battery life. But I'm more likely to run out of energy first!!
Fits the stem well and is easy to use whilst on the go too
They say good things come in small packages; they certainly do with this little chap 😁
Uploading to Strava is also a breeze with manual uploading being very simple to complete from their website.
I will be honest and I never read the instructions so I am using it as best as I could set it up for my needs. It was pretty easy to complete although I think I could get it better if I really sat down and worked on it.
The unit is well sealed and easy to use with gloved hands and the mount is robust with no fear of it dropping off the bars randomly.
If you are looking for a light, basic unit to easily track you activities then you cannot go far wrong with one of these. Looks like they are bringing them out in a watch format for 2017 too.

Pros: Does exactly what it claims. Easy to use and set up. Reasonably good battery life. Easy to switch between bikes!
Cons: GPS takes a minute or two to acquire a signal on startup. GPS dropouts can lead to missing speed, wrong speed, etc.
Overall a wireless Cateye responds more quickly and more accurately to changes in speed. However if you are looking for something more aero and/or easy to switch between bikes - with the benefit of trip recording - then this is a winner. It is neither a Cateye killer nor a Garmin killer - but it is very nice and super portable. The bands make it easy to attach to any bike you happen to be riding.
Disclosure: I've never used or owned a Garmin or any other dedicated GPS product, so I have nothing to compare it with. That said, I bought this to replace horrible GPS apps. I'd been using Google's My tracks, and I was totally fine with it. Then they announced they were kicking it to the curb, so I started using Strava and a couple others.
I hated all of them.
I've never been interested in my maximum speed or calories burned or any of that. I do like saving maps, keeping track of my mileage, and vertical feet climbed. This does all of that. Plus, the setup is easy and their GPS Root website is user-friendly. I really didn't need anything terribly complicated. I just wanted to chart my rides and map them. This does everything I need it to do.
