Product Description

Product Description

Sitcom following the trials and tribulations of self-appointed Muslim community leader Mr Khan and his long suffering family. Khan is a larger-than-life character, a small man with big dreams and strident opinions. Like many of us he’s struggling to make ends meet – but he’s proud of his thriftiness – witness his 1979 suit and ancient yellow Mercedes. Things would be so much easier if everyone just listened to him and followed his lead, but his obsessively house-proud wife and two feisty daughters have other ideas. Starring Adil Ray, Shobu Kapoor, Felix Dexter, Kris Marshall, Maya Sondhi, Bhavna Limbachia and Abdullah Afzal.

Hilarious comedy - watched the whole series and looking forward for series 2.
If we all learnt to laugh at each other, the world would be a much better place to live in...

I watched the series from the beginning and thought it was really funny and the actors are fab, it is comedy after all and I don't think the intention is taking the mick out of religion. I loved the actors and the style of the way they played the roles.

Well Done Adil Ray! I'm a huge fan after seeing 'Citizen Khan'

Citizen Khan is written in the same vein as other classic humour such as "Fawlty Towers" and "The High Life" in that it observes a particular section of British life. Poking fun at ourselves is a British trait, and one that deservedly embraces all sectors of our multi-ethnic community.

The "Birds and the Bees" scene where Mr Khan attempts unsuccessfully to teach his daughter the facts of life is particularly well observed and deserves to become a classic clip.

I very much look forward to a second series.

I WATCHED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AND MANAGED TO SEE ALL SIX EPISODES ON VIRGIN CATCH UP TV.

ITS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL TO WATCH ADIL RAY IS SO FUNNY AS IS KRIS MARSHAL WITH HIS BIRMINGHAM ACCENT.

I THINK AND HOPE THERES MORE SERIES TO COME.

GOOD LADS KEEP IT UP.

Citizen khan

I have Two views:
First view. Its a very easy going comedy. The main character Mr Khan is the person that has challenges in each episode.

The main story line for all 6 episodes is Mr Khan arranging marriage of Mr Khan's eldest daughter.

BUT
Mr khan is the only character that stands out from the show. Mr khan has all the majority of the funny lines. (Please note Mr Khan is played by the writer of the series Adil Rey) Some people might suggest that the writer actor is GREEDY because Mr Khan has the BEST and funniest line

Mr Khan has a thick Pakistani Anglo accent and drives a large yellow car. Mr Khan's future son in law has also a thick Pakistani Anglo accent.

Not sure if this comedy does anything positive for Asians and Pakistanis in 2012?

Citizen Khan resembles a 1960's and 1970's television programme like curry and chips

Citizen Khan may have been shown on BBC because it is very similar to older shows that depict Asians/ Pakistanis in a certain way? Citizen Khan is a safe show with nothing new to show EXCEPT that It shows Pakistanis on a prime time channel.

I am not sure if British Pakistani's will enjoy this series?
I am NOT a Pakistani and I really enjoyed Citizen Khan

This is a hilarious series, if a little controversial. I hope that Muslims are not offended by it, because it actually taught me much about Islam and the Pakistani culture in a gentle and funny way. I recommend it to anyone who thinks that it is OK to use humour to overcome our ignorance and prejudices. Personally hoping very much for a second series and I offer congratulations to the whole cast for striking just the right note.
