Product description

Product Description

Samson's C01 has all the performance features that you demand from a large diaphragm studio condenser microphone. It's the perfect solution for recording vocals, acoustic instruments and for use as and overhead drum mic. Featuring a large, dual-layer 19mm diaphragm with a cardioid pickup pattern, the C01 produces a smooth flat frequency response. Its two ultra-thin sensor membranes pick up far more detailed sounds than any dynamic coil. The result is a mic that captures accurate, detailed and smooth audio with warm bass tones and extended top end. You'll hear the strings and wood of your guitar, the breath and resonance of a singer, or the brassy shimmer of a ride cymbal with crystal clear clarity. The C01's design includes a heavy gauge mesh grill, gold-plated XLR connecter and an LED for monitoring its 48V of phantom power. It also comes with a swivel mount that can be attached to any standard mic stand. In addition, an optional SP01 spider shock mount is available for increased mic and sound stability. Samson's C01 is one of the best values available from a professional recording microphone.

Box Contains

A good mic for the money. I have a variety of mics for different applications and this condenser will be used primarily for acoustic instruments. I haven't tried the Samson on vocals yet, but it could work. Thus far I have found the mic to be a little brittle on the top end, easy to EQ out the brittleness but not quite the point. At this price point the Samson is a good and usable mic, there are of course many more expensive options out there, but you pay your money and make your choices.

Bought this due to needing a new mic for recording voice and vocals and the reviews I had seen of it. Works great, good response but it is sensitive so you'll have to be careful what environments you intend to record in. You'll also have to be careful about how close to live walls you place the mic as you could get an unintended reverb as it picks sound up off the walls. So far, delighted, low cost is a big bonus. Great service from Amazon seller Absolute Music.

One little point if you don't realize, this mic requires phantom powering. So if you are not intending to use it with a mixer which has that option, you will need to purchase an external phantom power supply. This will probably add £40 or more to the cost to get it going.

This has to be the bargain of the year so far.
I was going to delve a little deeper in my pocket originally as I needed a good quality microphone to record my vocals. Then, just by chance, this Samson condenser microphone came along and, quite honestly, I think it's superb. It gives a wonderful smooth, rounded analogue sound.
Quite frankly, for the money, I don't think it can be bettered.

This is very good for the money but does have it's limitations. It handled my own Blues/Rock recordings quite well. However it really struggled to cope with my daughters operatic recordings when she hit high notes with some volume.

I play tenor sax and like to record it in my back bedroom. I bought this mike on a friend's recommendation and after reading a few reviews, and am quite blown away by the quality! Placed about 5' off the ground it captures accurately the full range of the sax with excellent sound quality. My previous mike was a Shure SM58, excellent but being a dynamic mike more suited to pa.
The Samson is a condenser mike and therefore you will need phantom power, unless you get the usb version. It comes with a safe and practical screw fitting for a mike stand, but this is not for quick release - you would need to sort out some sort of clip. Construction seems solid and well made and it comes in a substantial case.

I got this mic as a present because I started a home studio. At first I was confused about phantom power and why i couldnt use it straight into a pc. but that is its only downfall. All studio condensers need phantom power from an external mixer which wasnt a problem for me as I then bought a usb- audio interface mixer. When recording the quailty is amazing for the price. Clear and steady sounds are perfect for making good songs and getting yourself on the scene. I would highly recomend this as its so good for the price. You will just need a mixer with phantom power. (can pick these up for next to nothing)
