I pretty much stumbled across references to this book by accident and its write up, in many ways, matched some of the purported tales of the real events leading up to the Lockerbie disaster and thereafter. A lot of things don't seem to gel about the official version of events and I think most people would agree there is something more. The question is, does Trail of the Octopus provide the answers ?

Having read it, I cannot say that it does or it doesn't. It provides a different explanation but whether this is the 'real story' or not, I guess few know.

It is, however, a good read and I don't mean that in a 'novel' sense. It gives a fascinating insight into the politics of the Middle East and although the book is somewhat dated now, most readers will have no trouble relating to the period the book covers.

If it turns out that it is, in fact, no more than a novel, then it is a cracker. If, however, it turns out have even a semblence of truth, then we are indeed in dark times.

I would suggest that if ever a book merited an update to tell what has happened since then to now, this is it.

Well worth reading, well worth it.

By chance I met Lester Coleman while he was on the run from American Government in late 90's and everything he told me then and what it is written in this book is true.
Lockerbie was a big cover up.
I can't say much more.

An believable account of flight Pan Am 103, and also a believable expose of the duplicity of the US government agencies in covering themselves and their political masters. It hasn't got any better in the intervening 26 years. Well worth a read especially with the benefit of hindsight as regards the present Middle East situation.

This a very interesting read and after reading it I was left utterly shocked that a government could allow something like this to happen and try to cover it up by using Pan Am as the scapegoat. I can't help but being left feeling angry on behalf of the victims relatives. I can't imagine what they must be going through.

This book I felt was difficult to read at times as it went into great detail politically and trying to keep track was difficult. I found the information written about the hostages (John MaCarthy etc) in the Bekha Valley interesting. Again another cover up.

A very detailed account and very informative. Would recommend.
