Isaacson's biography is hard to fault he doesn't pull his punches and gives a very broad, and at times detailed view on Jobs and his personal life, ambition and obsession/talent with technology. Very enjoyable and this really did need to be a "gloves off" type book; no point landing soft blows Jobs clearly was gifted but at times self centred/awkward individual. Even ignoring medical advice which would later prove to be ill advised (by his own admission). It explores the good and bad side leaving the reader/listener to come to their own conclusions which is exactly what a good biography should be.
Normally I am supportive of authors doing their own narration, but in this case Isaacson whilst competent, doesn't have the audible punch that some audio book masters do (Leonard Nimoy would have been ideal) It doesn't ruin the book though I found it hard to concentrate at times the tonal variations are not there (his reading can be a bit robotic and unattached)...good audio book narrators can read the book as if they are talking to you in person, here he's reading the book to you which isn't the same. With an established actor behind this it would have been perfect.
