I have just used this book during Literacy Hour with my Y2/3 class and have found it to be a wonderfully stimulating book. The contrasting pictures showing the difference between the warmth inside and the cold outside allowed the children to produce some outstanding written and artwork. The parallel story lines were soon picked up on and produced some interesting debates amongst the children. No classroom should be without this book!

My 5 year old twin boys thoroughly enjoyed the story, which was more of a "real life" scenario, with human characters than some of the author's other books (not that we don't enjoy the Mr Bear books too!)
A lovely story of how a storm affects a farm, and how the loyal sheep dog battes adversity - with the little boy's total faith in him, despite Dad's dismissal of dog!
Lots of lovely illustrations too.
The text was good for reading out loud, or for new readers to try themselves.
Hope there's more in the same vein from a great author.

An absolutely fantastic story, I use this for Talk for Writing as their is a second story in images alongside the written story which can be used by the children to write their own tale. Such a shame this text is now out of print as it is brilliant.

This was my sons favourite book as I child & he often talked about it, I brought it for a little part of his 21st birthday present, he loved reading it as much now as he did when he was little.

Well written, well illustrated and a beautiful story to make you feel all warm inside. The contrast between the lamb's story and the little boy's story is wonderful. My grandaughter loves it.
