"His life and legacy will always be cause for celebration" (Guardian)

Short 2-3 page items that he wrote over the years. Every one readable. The mix of humour, intelligence and, at times, sheer bloody mindedness of intent always shines through. His decline with dementia and his belief in having control over his own destiny is clearly and intelligently stated. Made me miss him more by the end of it. A great communicator and superbly funny man.

I love the writings of Sir Terry and this collection adds to that feeling that most of his novels are satirical swipes at the world as we know it. A fitting tribute to a wonderful author and great man in his own words as I suspect no one else could do him justice. Very recommended.

Sir Terry Pratchett triumphs with this ultimately readable collection of non-fiction which gives a somewhat surprising insight into Terry Pratchett the man. Neil Gaiman's foreword hints at the misconceptions people have about the writer. I met Sir Terry once at a book signing in Chester; the day was incredibly hot and the queue apparently infinite but he kept up his facade of good humour and, I believe, made every person in that queue feel that the wait had been worthwhile. His writing is always entertaining, even when he writes about difficult-to-even-contemplate-never-mind-read stuff. I'd certainly recommend this book to anyone thinking they want to be an author; anyone considering journalism as a career; anyone who has ever read anything else written by Sir Terry; anyone with Alzheimers (of any type); anybody thinking about such taboo subjects as assisted suicide. In fact, everybody should read this book. There are many authors I admire, but none more than Sir Terry Pratchett.

I love Discworld, it feels like a favourite place I visit whenever Sir Terry writes a book or I revisit one. Many parts referring to Discworld made me laugh, talk of Alzheimer's and the documentary made me cry and Sir Terrys views on the world, government, the idiocy of humans and politics made me think he's a wonderful man and maybe he should run the world. Or at least tell those who are supposed to be doing it how to do it better. Thank you for many years of happy reading.

This man should run the world. His thought processes are sometimes complicated, but his conclusions are by turns hilarious, thoughtful, kind, intelligent and totally un-self-pitying. He is one of the people I admire most in this world, and if there were more like him the world would be a more peaceful and sensible place.
