About the Author
I'm an Author hailing from Walsall, West Midlands. Most of my stories start off as a dream and I generally know the ending way before I know how to begin. Once I've found the beginning and sorted out the middle, the rest as they say, is history. I write for the love of it, so when people buy my book or ebook, I'm thrilled beyond belief. To think that someone out there is interested in my work enough to fork out their hard earned cash for, well - that's just something else. I'm not just an Author though, hell no! I'm a proud Mum, a loving Wife and caring Daughter. My Sister is my best friend in the whole, wide world. I've also been told I'm the best Auntie EVER! I'm also a Lead Singer (www.souldoutuk.com) and a Photographer (www.lucyonionsphotography.com).

Without giving away too many spoilers this is a story of getting everything you have ever dreamed about, even if it isn't exactly what you want.
I'll be honest at the outset; it took me a long time to read this book. That is in no way a reflection of the book itself, more that there was an awful lot going on in my personal life which didn't allow me a lot of time to dedicate to proofing. I'm also very aware that, at 29 and generally a little cynical about some YA, I was hardly the target audience for the book.
However, Shout the Call turned out to be an extremely fun ride. The characters are relatable and, more importantly, likeable. The plot is busy and gripping. The humour ticks along fantastically. I don't wish to let slip any spoilers so I'm being very careful here when I say that it's an exciting, modern take on a popular genre. I know for a fact that the YA me would have lapped this stuff up as perfect escapism with more than a dash of vaguely-warped fairytale romance. The older me is a skepitcal soul who enjoyed it regardless in nostalgia of my daydreamy youth.
Also, can we all just agree that the front cover is awesome? Because the front cover is, in fact, awesome.
Dive in, fellow rêveurs, because this is a thoroughly enjoyable, thrilling novel that will leave you wanting sequels.
It's an exciting novel guided along by a solid pace, which is consistent right through to end. It's modern and relevant, which makes for a refreshing take on a genre that's saturated and tired. The plot surprised me throughout, taking me through a few twists and turns I didn't see coming.
Although there were times I felt Bae got out of difficult situations too easily, the ending makes up for this: she genuinely loses quite a lot from her life but also gains, making for a balanced ending that ties the novel up nicely, and makes her struggles feel worthwhile. The characters are all like-able, and for a rare change, the center romance is one I enjoyed and cared for.
Give Shout A Call a chance because you may find yourself surprised. It's a light, enjoyable read, but most importantly it's fun. I'm glad I gave it my time.
A well written and easy to follow plot with good characterisation.
I'd certainly recommend this book.
