This book is among the best I have ever read. An extremely interesting insight into the interminable struggle for freedom in South Africa. I couldn't believe the extremes that white people were (and probably still are) prepared to go in order to assert their "superiority". An excellent fast moving and riveting read, difficult to put down.

I knew very little about the history of South Africa, but this book gave me an insight into the evolution of this country in a clear and concise way. I now understand a lot more and feel all the richer for it. This book is ideal if you want a simple overview of the creation and history of this powerful African country.

We are going to live in South Africa soon and I wanted to read up on the history before going. The great thing about this book is that it does help you to understand why apartheid was introduced, it does give you the background to the feeling of supremacy and it also is a fantastic read. I want to know more now......
