These series of books are really well made for toddler hands. Small, but not too small and with a nice sturdy cover that won't bend even under the most enthusiastic little ones hands. As a nice touch too, the corners are a little rounded to make it a little safer --- for those that tend to get a bit too animated at story time ...I have had a few cardboard corners to the eye over the years while reading stories so I am appreciative of this feature!
Why missing a star? Well despite everything going for this book my little two year old just doesn't love it as much as other books in the series. "Fun run" and "fire engine" and "library" always get called for first by her..... That said, this is nice book, just not to her taste perhaps so much.
The book is a board book which for anyone that doesn't know, means each page is made of thick card rather than paper pages alongside a hardback cover. This means this is a really durable book especially for little ones and is perfect to encourage their love of books without them unintentionally destroying the less robust paperback ones. It also makes it very easy for little ones to be able to turn the pages by themselves and will enable most food, dirt and grime to be able to be wiped off the board pages. They also take a little longer to chew through!
The book is about George Pig and is pretty much the same as the television programme with the same story. The book sees Daddy Pig and Grandpa Pig making a race car for George out of an old pram and other parts. George then races against Peppa's friends who are on their bike, scooter and bouncing hopper and Peppa is George's chief mechanic and fixes his race car when it becomes broken.
There is no "Look Inside" feature at the time of writing this review and so I hope the publisher doesn't mind but I have attached a few photos to give an example of the storyline inside and what the book looks like. I haven't revealed all of the pages so as not to ruin the book for anyone thinking of buying it and if the publisher wishes me to remove my photos and they see this then please just comment on this review or email me and I will remove them.Read more ›
The book itself is very well made with nice pictures and clear, easy to read text. There’s enough interest to keep the two year old happy and now the one year old is starting to love books and again this one is a popular choice.
