This book is crammed with sensory tools kids can use to feel and function better anywhere, anytime. It helps children recognize what they are feeling - whether they are low arousal and sluggish, overaroused and emotional, or just too hyper - and empowers them with strategies they can use to feel 'just right'. -- Lindsey Biel, OTR/L, co-author of Raising a Sensory Smart Child, and author of Sensory Processing Challenges: Effective Clinical Work with Kids & Teens Something for everyone! Great graphics for kids. Illustrated charts for teachers. Helpful hints for parents. Innovative resources for therapists. Truly an awesome compilation of strategies students can use anytime anywhere. No assembly required! -- Beverly H. Moskowitz, DOT OTR/L, CEO at Real OT Solutions, Inc. The Kid's Guide to Staying Awesome and In Control is crucial in helping children pinpoint how they feel so they can implement which methods work best for them to maximize their learning potential and provide everyday comfort. -- Leslie Burby, Author, Advocate, Former Special Educator, Editor-in-Chief of Autism Parenting Magazine A sensational resource for kids, caregivers, teachers, and practitioners! The kid-friendly text empowers the readers to take ownership of their own physical and mental feelings, which is essential for successful therapeutic outcomes. I bought this for my 10 year old. When it arrived my first thought was it was too young for him, but in fact it is perfect. He has nothing 'wrong' with him, but has had a few problems controllimg his emotions at school whoch has been causing social problems for him. He is finding the strategies really helpful and simple to implement, and likes the way that the science behind them is explained simply but without talking down to him (with a few satisfyingly long words thrown in!).

Great little book. Easy to read and follow guidance/ideas/strategies. Very simple language so it can be used directly with children. I'm sure it will become a readily used classroom resource in my both of my schools from September!!
The only down side for me were the "Americanisms".

This is a brilliant resource, I am an occupational therapist in a CAMHS clinic. I have used it with a couple of my clients who have found it interesting and useful. They said it spoke directly to them (even though "it's a bit American" ?!) and had lots of practical advice they can take away and try out. The fact that the book is a hard cover is great as it should stand up to use in my clinic.

Beautifully written and illustrated. Accessible for children and adults. Written by a lady who clearly knows her stuff. Have used the techniques on myself, my child and children where I work. If you work with kids or have kids this is a really valuable book.
