I have found this book to be everything I hoped for. It covers all the essential information needed to give you an insight into what you are letting yourself in for and more! Each topic is not drawn out over many pages, yet the information is detailed and to the point. I have learnt many great tips from this book and now know where common mistakes are made.
For those who have commented on this book being geared towards the American market, it simply uses a few american terms. Ideas can be replicated and the basic start up process is the same.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great resource for anyone thinking of starting their own home based party business... 15 May 2017

This is a great book for anyone wanting to start out their own home based business. I like the way the book is broken down into various sections with thorough explanations and checklists on what needs to be done. The author herself focuses on an art themed party business which is her specialty but the info she gives can also be used for other platforms and other business set ups. I would recommend this book as a great resource to starting their own business!

I had tried to find a good book based on this subject, and it seems all event planning books are either based on corporate events or have nothing but obvious advice. This book details everything it takes to really start a children's party business in an organized manner. She covers the basics, but also gives the details of things you might forget and regret later. I had already started my business plan, and had a clear idea of what I wanted to do before getting this book, but now I feel so much more confident because I have lists that I can reference and check off. It would be wonderful if she included some more stories or photos, but I will definitely be referencing back to this as I continue my adventure into Children's Party Planning.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for a newbie 7 Nov. 2013

I have VERY limited experience with running a business and I still found this book to be pretty "common knowledge" stuff. Its is very organized and gives a literal step by step guide to starting a new business, so I'm sure someone out there would glean some knowledge from it, but for me it didn't tell me anything new.

Not that great of a book if your seriously looking to start a childrens party planning business. More for a stay at home mom that wants to do parties for fun on the side, not very impressed.
