He should be trying to figure out how his two best friends were killed in a suspicious accident and why the new young viscount seems destined to be the next victim. But he can't concentrate on anything but his growing infatuation with the beautiful, mysterious, and utterly captivating governess.Together they're doing their best to save the two boys, but will Stephen's feelings for Bonnie get in the way of their search for a killer?

The mystery is pretty great, although not very in-depth (again, with the length of the book some things got a little less time than they would have in a longer book), and just thrilling enough to be interesting. The romance itself seems to have some weird roadblocks that go beyond the fact that Stephen is nobility (although not wealthy and landless) and Bonnie is a governess. Those roadblocks don't become clear until the very end of the book and I thought them rather unnecessary honestly.
But it's a sweet fun read, I loved seeing Bonnie interacting with the Darrow children, I loved watching Stephen learning how to interact with them, and I loved it every time Bonnie put him in her place. For 99 cents and a continuation of the Governess Club stories - totally worth it. Looking forward to the next one.
Bonnie is left in charge of the two boys when their parents die in a carriage accident while she waits for the boy's guardian to turn up. When he gets there attraction and mystery follows.
I like the style of Ellie MacDonald 's writing and find her feel for the historical attitudes convincing. She entertains the reader and her ending makes sense.
I look forward to reading more of this series.
If I'm rate this book for the romance part, I would give it 5 stars. It was sweet and touching.
If I'm rate this book for the mystery part, I would give it 3 stars. I wanted more detail on the mystery; it needed more work. The basic why, where, when and how was not really clear and seemed rush.
