The world of Goblins is brought to life with such imaginings that it not only entertains but charms also - the narrative truly seems real and makes its own inquisitive sense. Philip Reeve is an author of a number of award-winning books such as the Mortal Engines and Larklight series. His latest offering is mixed with bloodthirsty, squabbling, greedy and somewhat dim-witted Globins. These Goblins live in the towers at Clovenstone keep, which are described charmingly by Reeve. The language throughout Goblins is both robust and hilarious. The narrative takes a few months or perhaps a year after the war against the dwarves from the last book “Goblins vs Dwarves” (2013), everything is fairly slow, quiet and sedate at Clovenstone. However, matters soon change when a visitor arrives with demands.

Jig has to deal with two malevolent princes and a dragon. He has fight against the pixie infection, and though he doesn't realize it, the goblins are beginning to respect and look up to him. Trouble comes their way when the goblin's lair is invaded by the prince and princess whose brother bled is in the goblin's lair.

The book can be read as a stand-alone piece; however, reading the previous two books is advisable. A good third book that ends the series on a high note - an utterly charismatic delight, which younglings as well old-lings will love.

Another excellent offering from Philip and thus highly recommended for an age range of 7 to 47.

Book 3 sees Skarper and Henwyn setting off on a Goblin Quest, along with the cast of characters from the first two books (apart from one very much missed Princess).
The plot is too twisty and turny to precis here - and anyway, I don't want to give any spoilers.
Just to say that the story is fast paced, laugh out loud funny and full of rich invention - with a very satisfying ending.
For me, the Goblins series is a funny, fresh and modern take on the lands of myths and legends, with none of the usual stereotyping of creatures. I do so very much hope there will be another in the series.
You don't need to have read the first two Goblin books to enjoy this one - but I think it adds to the adventure if you do... and they are both excellent anyway.
Enjoy!

Written in the great style of the two previous Goblins books, Goblin Quest is a fun adventure and a worthwhile read. Highly recommended for the young at heart of all ages. I hope there will be more to the series.

This is an excellent series and the third installment is a nice read with lovable characters. It's important to read "Gobins" and "Goblins versus Dwarves" first to get the most out of this book.

My children and I all love the Goblin books. This is just as good as the previous two, and probably funnier. Mr Reeve is getting completely into the feel of the world he has created.
Initially Goblins was a single book, then it was touted as a trilogy. This third book makes me hope that there will be further Goblin adventures very soon.
