It's not the author's fault, of course. The original hardcover was published in1976, our Bicentennial. That was the era that embroidery books were finally coming into their own. But publishing costs were such that b&w usually outweighed color. Interestingly, this book of 216 pages has 63 color plates and over 122 b&w pictures. So the author had to make the hard decision of just what the color plates would show and she made fine choices. In the images, I've put several of the more vivid photos. I put in the final one, though, to see just how flat b&w is.
This book would be just about perfect if it were all in color. Shy of that, there is quite a lot of information covered about how the colors you employ in your projects can make the difference between ho-hum and masterpiece. Ultimately, though, to put her info to good use, you'll have to consult a more recent colorful book.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: in June 2013, Amazon removed customer-uploaded images from product pages. Sometimes that even included the cover of the book. Sorry.
