Product Description

Review

"'Extended Matching Questions are increasingly being adopted as a format of written assessment, both in the undergraduate and postgraduate setting. EMQ's have considerable advantages over formats such as MCQ's and True/False questions, in that they test the application of knowledge and problem solving in a clinical context rather than simple factual recall; EMQ's appear to do so reliably, and there is less cueing and reliance on elimination of obviously incorrect answers. Consequently, it is likely that EMQ's will replace many of the older written assessment formats.' Andrea Akkad, Marwan Habiba and Justin Konge, in the Preface"

Format: Paperback
The questions are at the level expected for the vast majority of medical school finals exams and no more, so it's useful to reinforce revision obtained elsewhere but doesn't really stretch you further. Also, although it can be quite funny, it's probably not appropriate to portray EVERY Asian as being diagnosed with TB, EVERY Afro-Carribean as being diagnosed with HIV or fibroids, EVERY homeless person as being diagnosed with illnesses secondary to alcoholism or drug abuse, etc. Racism and social stigma have no place in modern medicine :)

This book is useful as a revision gudie ONLY! The content is a bit obscure but does get you to think about other aspects of medicine that relate to obstetrics and gynaecology and was a useful tool for practising EMQ exams. It is not a very good book to revise the whole of obstetrics and gynaecology and should not be used in that way as some of the question were a little to specialist. I wouldn't recommend for end of placement exams. Although I personally did like the content I know many people who did not and felt it was overpriced.

Very good book - does what it says on the cover really.
Mostly clinical questions - some anatomy and other basic science questions related to O & G would be a good addition.
Did both sections in one afternoon - so that makes it rather expensive. Buy and share..

good book, has some good emq's but they don't really stretch you. Certainly not in enough detail for UCL exams!
