Product description

About the Author

Tracey Richardson came to a love of books early on, thanks to a mother who took her and her two siblings regularly to the library in the Windsor area of Ontario, Canada, just across the river from Detroit. She even loves the smell of the ink and paper in books and to this day, when she opens a brand new book, she always gives it a good sniff! A journalist by trade, she worked at Ontario daily newspapers as first a reporter and later a copy editor. Semi-retired now, she finally has more time to devote to her fiction writing.

A brilliant story from Tracey Richardson combining her love of ice hockey with romance. I loved the characters of Nik and Eva and how their story intertwined with the Olympics, there is sport, mystery, intrigue and love all between the covers of this book definitely a story worth re-reading again and again

Set in the world of women’s international ice hockey “Delay of Game” is an excellent combination of sports based intrigue and rekindled romance.

Niki was one of the top players on the Canadian olympic team, now retired and teaching, she has moved on, married, become a parent and been widowed. When team Canada come knocking her first response is to say no, but her country and her team need her for the upcoming olympics. Eva is still playing and still one of the best on the young American team, but her body is giving out and its a constant struggle to get on the ice.

Their relationship ended bitterly many years before and they have avoided each other ever since, but now they are bound to meet in the run up to the olympics. Old feelings spark, rivalries run deep and some will do literally anything to win. When it comes to the crunch both women have to choose who they want to be, and where their loyalties lie.

This is a great read, fast moving, full of intrigue and action, on and off the rink. The spark between Eva and Niki is excellent, one having settled, literally, the other having spent her energy being a player in every sense of the word. The constant battle between their obvious passion for each other, Niki’s determination to stay loyal to her past and their commitment to their teams makes for great romantic tension and some hot sex.

Both women are interesting characters, well drawn and complex. You want both to succeed, clearly impossible for opposing teams, but off the rink you can't help but want them to work it out. The intrigue between the teams adds a great dramatic energy that lifts this above a straight forward romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very well developed story and romance.... 13 April 2017

I like a book that is entertaining, romantic, and well told and this offering is all that. Sure, I like "great literature" but in this genre, that is not my expectation. This is a well-told romance with the added angst of fierce Olympic-level competition and a little intrigue. This book gets bonus points for tight editing and no grammatical errors. I really enjoyed this book.

This is probably the best book I've read in a long while. I seriously could not put it down. The plot is intriguing, the characters engaging, and the romance is hot. It moved at a great pace and the ending was definitely satisfying. If you love a great romance read this book.

Richardson has given us another winner of a book! Her two protagonists were so well developed. The backdrop of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver really creates intensity and excitement and intrigue as well as the love story between Nikki and Eva. Overall a wonderful story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, for once the ending was not predictable 25 April 2017

I love sports but I don't know much about hockey. So I was afraid I'd be overwhelmed with hockey jargon, but it wasn't like that. There was just enough to tell the story.
