I (like many others here) didn't realise that this book was part of a series, but that didn't really spoil my enjoyment of the read. I have docked it one star only because of the misleading Christmas side of it, but I would still recommend this book.
So if it is Christmas reads you are after, I would steer away (perhaps you should try I'm Dreaming of a Wilde Christmas (A laugh-out-loud romantic comedy) or Cold Feet at Christmas which are both fantastic Christmas reads), but otherwise give it a whirl!
This book had only a small Christmas element so I felt the title & cover were misleading & I probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd known.
The hotel protest storyline & merlins was long & a bit dull. I liked the main 3 women but didn't overly warm to any of them.
Turns out this is a sequel so may be its best to read the others to get to know the characters better although this could also be a stand alone.
This book is actually the third part of a series, but I had no idea this was the case when I started reading it. Even though the characters have been through a lot and I sometimes had to read certain passages twice to really understand everything that had happened to the different characters, the book can definitely be read as a stand-alone. It only made me more curious about the other books! The novel has a great and well-drawn cast of characters at its core; I loved the switch from the points of view of Cat, Marianne and Pippa, and I couldn't get enough of each of their stories. They were different women, each with their own background and dreams and goals, and I simply loved reading about all three of them.Read more ›
Coming Home for Christmas tells the story of three main characters (Cat, Pippa and Marianne) and their perspective families. There are so many different topics covered in this novel, ranging from midlife crises to coming to terms with new relationships.
Ever since watching Gilmore Girls, I am a huge fan of stories that play in rural areas and explore close-knit small town life. Hope Christmas, the setting for Coming Home for Christmas, sounds absolutely wonderful and in my opinion, the author couldn’t have chosen a more perfect environment to place her characters in.
The storyline that I probably enjoyed the most is Pippa and Dan’s story. These two have just gone through a divorce after Dan had an accident (which was more than likely covered in the previous books) which left him with a fractured memory and uncontrolled bursts of anger. Although these two still seem to have an enormous amount of feelings for another, Dan thinks he is holding Pippa back and rather lets her go than to see her unhappy. The whole way through, I was extremely keen to find out what fate awaits these two.
I truly enjoyed this book, its fantastic characters and interesting plot lines. I am sure that I will read the two previous books in this series in the near future.

The third (and worst) book in the Hope Christmas series. The characters are all so selfish and spoilt in this book it’s hard to relate them to the previous books. Read morePublished 4 months ago by Rebeccac747
