Britain, when the Chisnalls played rugby league, was still very competitive internationally, though Australia were poised to overtake and impose a dominance that Britain have rarely been able to threaten since. A nostalgic time for some, when Australia didn't automatically start favourite in every rugby league Test Match. As forwards, the Chisnalls were among the players who physically held their own with the Australians, and allowed their backs latitude to score some memorable victories.
Good to hear a voice from the opposition!

Excellent read for those of us old enough to remember the Chisnalls and how the game was played in the pre summer/professional era. There are some wonderful dedications by younger generation players that show the contribution made by Eric specifically in his role at St. Helens, every club needs blokes like him.
