'The Adventures of Puss-Puss: The Splash-maker and the Rainbow' is a breezy, wonderful read. It starts off with Puss-Puss realizing that she is no more a pet in a safe, comfy home where she could find all the fish she wanted in a little pond and never had to hunt. Her little adventures as she finds her way around the canal are just the right length to hold the attention of 5-7 year olds. While I loved the author's descriptive language which allows for vivid imagery, I particularly enjoyed reading the conversation between Puss-Puss and her food - the mouse - and the mysterious Splashmaker. I found myself slowly but surely falling in love with this cat as I traversed the story! The illustrations are great too and bring out the beauty of the canal and its surroundings.

This book is beautifully illustrated. It contains a lot of rich language features which are lacking in many children's books today. I can't wait to read it to my class. Looking forward to the next adventure of Puss-Puss.

I haven’t read kids’ books in a while, but who says I’m too old to enjoy one? I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review, and I really enjoyed the adventures of Puss-Puss as she finds herself by the canal trying her best not to look like the scruffy strays she’d seen earlier.

I traveled with her experiencing her exciting adventures as she met new friends. The pictures associated with each new adventure added to the author’s vivid descriptions. Gather your young kids around and join Puss-Puss on her journey.

Puss-Puss, the queen of cool cats with a dream, ends up living by a mysterious canal. Her daily routine mostly involved looking for something good and juicy, to eat. Always the diplomat, Puss-Puss held entertaining interrogations with her snacks--she gave them all a chance. The smooth talkers became friends, although one did lose a leg. This is a delicious read for students of all ages.
