The new Sapphire nitro+ RX 470 card is more than another component; it’s the beating heart of your gaming system. It should look as good as it costs. With tasteful shroud design augmented by RGB LEDs, each card is practically a piece of art. You can even change the colours of the LED, for your own customized design. This can be controlled via software using the latest version of SAPPHIRE’s Award Winning Overclocking Utility - TriXX 3.0, or through hardware by pressing the red button on the back of your SAPPHIRE NITRO Gaming Series card. Users can choose from a set of five different modes including Fan Speed Mode, PCB Temperature Mode or the colourful rainbow mode. If you prefer, LEDs can also be turned off. We looked at the traditional axial fan design system, and found that the way it circulates the hot air back to the fan inlet resulted in a higher temperature over time. With NITRO Free Flow we redesigned the airflow of the entire cooler and board, so that the hot air is expelled through the system fan instead, rapidly dissipating heat. The SAPPHIRE NITRO Gaming Series cards come with Dual HDMI ports, specifically designed to work with VR. By having two HDMI ports, you can have both an HD monitor and cutting-edge VR headset running at the same time. The ports are HDMI 2.0b, the latest update, with an 18Gbps bandwidth, up to 32 audio channels, and is able to support 4K 50/60 resolutions like 2160P, whilst remaining entirely backwards compatible with older HDMI specifications.
Top customer reviews
I was really impressed with build quality and sapphire rgb lighting. The only negative points where the first time off plugging in to my pc. The card sounded like it was going to take off. Some how i did not notice they put bios switch on card and it was on over clock mode. How anyone can game with the fans at full pelt is beyound me. I shut down my pc. Flipped the switch. The card was fixed. No fans spinning. I Had some amazing fps during gaming. This card can clearly hold ots ground with its brother rx 480 and gtx 1060.There is on about 10/15 fps difference. But my card Only lasted a few weeks sadly. Then card was fans would act up. Not kick in. Crazy high temps.Pc blue screen.Graphics errors on screen. .I just got bad one i guess.Had to return to amazon for refund.
Still a great card for those on budget.
RX480 Nitro is a better buy, more frames per £ by a couple about 5%. However the big difference is, this is available now......
Have increased power limit by %10 and max clock speed increased to 1350mhz, increased target temp to 80C, and score 5-10% more in benchmarks now. No real difference in temps it peaks at 78C and runs in low 70's. Fans are never obtrusive.
Had it running at 1400+ on core with higher power limit, and seemed stable, but I really dont want to push it, but there seems plenty of headroom for overclocking for those who like to squeeze out every frame they can.
Card looks great, feels quality, however its worth noting Trixx software currently doesnt support all the fancy LED customisation stuff. But I have spoken to Sapphire customer care and they assure me their at Beta testing stage.
My card is 1355mhZ/1885Mhz, on par with R9 390/390x with just +30% powerlimit and stock OC -1100mV.
Even at stock, the performance of this card is very close to R9 390 8Gig with 4.9 teraflops, compared to 5.1 of the r9 390.
-Overclocked well for a RX card in its early days thanks to improved PCB and a half-decent dual fan solution.
-Very Good raising the performance of a budget card for 60fps+ Ultra settings gaming, 120hz+ Vulkan, 90-100fps on older games too! Runs with less overhead than R9 cards, so better suited for low-IPC budget processors like FX.
-Plays video with hardware acceleration at 4k/60fps with 30% cpu load very easily with 0 dropped frames in browser!
- Default fan curve is not quiet, and not best at cooling, to make it both quiet and way cooler (-20c+) run with custom fan curve. I attached a photo of mine.
- Dualbios is no longer supported by AMD ReLive drivers, locks you out unless you patch the drivers (google AMD/ATI pixel clock patcher)
- As always its a dual slot card, which meant i barely sandwiched a PCI card under the GPU fans, but with a 3,5inch drive bay cov. i did it!
- If you can get 8 Gig model if you want to play above 1920x1080.
If you can find this card on a good deal then go get it!
