Product description

Product Description

This is where it all started. It's the whisky that signifies the rebuilding of our community and rebirth of the Jura distillery. On the front of the bottle is a Celtic symbol for birth, beginnings and the forces of nature. It's something that we added to our unique bottle because we thought it symbolised our unique story, and the whisky that is at the heart of everything we do.

Easy to drink whisky, good choice for someone new to whisky. Got this for £21.60 on a black friday deal - it's good.

The box mine arrived in (the actual product box, not the Amazon cardboard box) was a bit beaten up when it arrived, would have been a bit embarrassing if I were gifting this to someone.

The Isle of Jura 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is the smoothest malt whisky I have ever tried. Unlike a lot of whiskies this one does not leave a sharp impression on the tongue or throat, but rather glides over the two of them so deliciously. It is so smooth that the customary recommendation by distilleries of a couple of drips of water are not needed to "Take The Edge Off It".

This is not to say that it is without taste though, the aroma of this single malt when freshly poured into the glass will ensure the drinker of the taste they will receive when lips touch liquid. This truly is a whisky with a warming texture to it that can remind one of honey, and is not as smokey as some single malts. All in all a malt to be savoured.

One of my husband's favourite whiskies, and the one that made me start liking whisky too! Arrived quickly and well packaged - thoroughly pleased with this purchase.

A long gap before I returned to whisky and this is my fourth brand. I don't read the descriptions until I have sunk a few - just enough to cover the bottom of a glass and a single ice cube at a time.
I really got the hits of flavours, licorice, coffee beans, sugary sweetness. This is a lovely malt.
NB I bought from supermarket £24

When you factor in the price and the fact this single malt is only 10 years old you can't complain about the experience on offer. There's nothing inherently bad about this scotch except for showing its youth around the edges.

This is remarkably similar to its elder brother the "superstition" apart from being a little rough around the edges, mainly from the alcoholic bite on the tongue, yet it doesn't have the smoke or depth in spices that the superstition has. I've said it before in my review of the Superstition, that out of the whole Jura range the Superstition is the best bang for your buck version to go for, that said the Origin does offer you a good starting experience to the Jura range. You get Oak characteristics on the nose and on the palate besides toffee and very mild liquorice. With a small amount of water the alcoholic nip virtually goes away and is replaced by a fresh apple/ pineapple aroma and taste.

Verdict: Jura is distinctive enough to be treated differently from the malts from Islay, yet you will be surprised at how many people believe Jura comes from Islay. No, it comes from the Island of Jura although you can only travel to Jura via Islay, which is where i think the confusion comes in. Pay no more than £26 for the Origin and you will enjoy this scotch as the entry level Jura. It's not overly complex but the experience on offer is self evident!

Just bought a bottle of this from a local supermarket and I have to say it is an amazing drop of whisky! Smooth with a light fruity taste which is just beautiful! If, like me, you have only ever had Bells whisky and found that somewhat harsh try this. Even my mother who hates the smell of regular whisky likes this and has even drunk some! Even if you like Bells, I'd say give this a try.

Single malts often seem daunting as they can be very specific in taste, unlike blends which tend to appeal to a broader palette, but this is beautiful! Great tasting whisky, and for a single malt, not badly priced (in my opinion).

I buy Jura as a gift for my Dad for every birthday and Christmas and it always goes down well. He won't touch blended whisky and due to this it can be quite expensive to find whisky that he will drink. This is guaranteed to put a smile on any true whisky lovers face without breaking the bank. Very highly recommended.
