Crock-Pot SC7500-IUK 4.7L Sauté Slow Cooker

Why use a slow cooker?

There are many advantages to slow cooking: it's healthy, convenient, tasty and cost-effective, not to mention easy.

More and more people in the UK own a slow cooker; it's become a modern, trendy way of producing healthy, flavoursome meals with minimal effort. Simply add your ingredients and get back to your day, perfect for those living a busy lifestyle. No need to be a professional chef, just wait for the results.

A slow cooker will use just a fraction of the power needed to run a conventional oven and will turn inexpensive cuts of meat into deliciously tender family meals in hours with just the flip of a switch.

Product Description

Crock-Pot SCVI600BS 5.7 Litre Digital Sauté Slow Cooker: slow cooking with a difference, with a thermal shock resistant pot which allows you to sauté food, re-heat food in the oven and store leftovers in the fridge or freezer - all in this one pot.

Upgrade your basic slow cooker to the top-of-the-range Crock-Pot 5.7 Litre Digital Sauté Slow Cooker, which has all the functions you would expect in a slow cooker including low and high heat settings, digital countdown timer, keep warm function, detachable cord and a non-stick pot and lid which are dishwasher safe. With the sauté function and beautifully crafted product and design you will be envy of your friends and family.

Sauté Feature

Unlike traditional slow cookers, the Crock-Pot SCVI600BS sauté pot is made from a stoneware material which enables the pot to be used on any form of direct heat (electric or gas). This material allows you to sauté your food in the same pot you will be slow cooking in. No need to create more mess by using a separate frying or sauce pan. By sautéing in the pot you will be able to brown or sear meats and vegetables prior to adding the other ingredients to your creation. The removable pot also allows you to reheat in the microwave or oven, as well as store in the fridge or freezer.

Medium Capacity Pot

The SCVI600BS Sauté slow cooker has a 5.7 Litre cooking capacity. This medium size Crock-Pot slow cooker is ideal for large family meals, easily serving 5-6 people with flavoursome and healthy dishes.

Timing Your Food to Perfection

The SCVI600BS has a built-in digital 20hr countdown timer, with an LED screen. Set the time in accordance with the recipes you have chosen. Whether it be a 6+ hour recipe for a classic Beef Bourguignon or 2 hours for bread and butter pudding, this function will tell you when your delicious food is ready to be served.

Easy Cleaning and Storage

The SCVI600BS removable pot also has a rinse clean stick-resistant coating which not only reduces burnt-on food when sautéing and slow cooking, but also helps with the cleaning process after finishing your meal. Both the removable pot and lid are dishwasher safe as well. Once finished, the slow cooker has a detachable cord that can be removed and stored in the pot for next use, helping to de-clutter your kitchen work surfaces when the slow cooker is out on display for all to see.

I bought this crockpot from Amazon a couple of weeks ago.I had already researched very carefully and read some negative reviews re this model cooking too quickly and burning food etc. However, I particularly wanted a slow cooker that I could use on the hob too as I did not want to have to wash up an extra pan. This was the only slow cooker that fitted the bill, so I decided to take a chance, despite the negative reviews. Well, I must say that I am absolutely thrilled with it. I have used it nearly every day for the past week and had no problems with it cooking too quickly or burning whatsoever. It is great to be able to prepare the meals in the crockpot on the hob first (mine is electric), which means I do not have any extra washing up which is always tiresome. I have left meals cooking on slow for 7 hours with no problem and cooked on the high setting too. I have cooked meat dishes, chicken dishes, curries and soups so far. They have been great and I have plans to cook so much more.I can prepare it in the morning and don't have to worry about cooking early evening, when I least feel like cooking. I have even put it on before going out to play 18 holes of golf and my husband and I came home to a meal all prepared ready to eat. Perfect! I am able to cook large enough quantities to eat one meal now and freeze another for later (there are two of us).It is exactly what I wanted and I am so glad I did not take any notice of the negative reviews! OK I think I have raved enough about this baby now.

I am not sure where the other reviewers are coming from as I have had no problem using the slow cooker today for the first time. I can only assume they had a faulty unit or not followed manufacturer instructions properly.

I made a beef stew today and cooked it on low heat for 5 hours and then 1 extra hour on high heat as I wanted the meat to be a bit more tender. It did not run out of water at all and I am confident I could have left it cooking for a lot longer with still plenty of water left.
None of the food stuck to the pot or got burnt. Nothing spilt on the outside of the pot at all either. I prefer to sauté/brown everything in a frying pan, adding it in layers to the pot and then finally adding stock. It was delicious the meat was tender everything perfectly cooked and I am looking forward to finding more recipes to try. It's really easy to use and and I love the fact it automatically switches to keep warm once the timer is done.

The Crockpot IS guaranteed for 2 YEARS, see page 8 of the instruction manual.

If you are wondering why so many people had their pot or lid crack it could be for any those of those reason stated below as per instruction booklet:

1 - Always use the enclosed heat diffuser when cooking on electric hobs or breakage may result.
2 - Do not use on high heat on the hob
3 - Do not heat empty stoneware on the hob burners. Always ensure there is liquid or food inside the stoneware.
4 - Always begin hob cooking on a low heat before increasing to medium or medium low heat.
5 - Always coat bottom of stoneware with a minimum of two tablespoons of oil when sauteing or browning on the hob.
6 - Always stir food often when cooking on the hob.
7- Never freeze water or water based foods in the stoneware.

I read the reviews about overheating etc and nearly didn`t order. I then thought I would have no sight of reviews in a shop so I ordered the slow cooker and was glad I did. I have had NO overheating and can leave things to cook overnight with no problems, I can only assume people have not used enough liquid. My cooker barely bubbles it is so good. Go for it!

While I appreciate that it doesn't work well for the other reviewers in the sense that it is too hot to use for true slow cooking, I chose this model after a visit to the local electrical shop to see what the quality was like and it seemed a lot more sturdy than the other brands on offer. I didn't want one that has a glass lid as the main reason I was shopping for another slow cooker was because my last one suddenly and inexplicably shattered sending glass into my dinner! After a Google I read that it is a fairly common occurrence.

I have a vegetarian family so it will never be used to cook meat. I use mine a lot for making soups, stews and large batches of pasta sauce to freeze and it is ideal for that, with the added bonus of not having to prepare things in a separate pan before transferring them to the slow cooker. I never have to cook things for a long period of time just 4-6 hours in an afternoon and I'm able to come and go without the worry of leaving something in the oven or on the hob. If you are a stay at home mum it is a good choice but not so much for people who want to prepare things first thing in the morning for leaving all day for the reasons other reviewers have already mentioned.

I left my beautiful Tower Slo-Cooker behind when we went on holiday. Oh how I have wept since. This cooker did not do the same wonderful job - at all. Yes, this is a cooker, but it isn't a slow cooker. A slow cooker is a pot that you fill at the start of the day, and then can come back to in the evening and remove tender, delicious food. This cooker doesn't do that. It works at too high a temperature. If you put it on at the start of the day, you will come back to ruined food burned to a dry skin round the sides of the pot. Absolutely hopeless. On the other hand, if you are aware that it is a ridiculously fast cooker, and are prepared to treat it more like an electric pan, rather than a slow cooker, it is a fairly good cooker. You will get a decent meal out of it in less than three hours. But this is no good to the person wanting an all-day cooker. Its only positive point, as far as I am concerned, is that you can use the pot straight on your hob, too, to get the veg and meat browned, and get it all started. Utterly disappointing machine, especially considering the brand and the price. Alternative? The Russell Hobbs is a slightly inconvenient dual pot (so you couldn't get a whole piece of meat or chicken in), but it is a proper slow cooker and gives excellent results. Have tried almost all the other brands and found them too hot, too. If you read all the reviews you will see it is a common problem with modern slow cookers. What has happened to slow cooking? Come back Tower. We need you!
