There is no story mode and you are left early on to wonder around, unlocking different, taller mountains as you level up which is not a drawn out process either. You can also unlock other events by scanning the side of a mountain using your binoculars, not a bad idea as there are more than enough to unlock. If you do a successful run down the mountain you can also challenge other players to beat your score.
The game is always online and it logs into into the Ubisoft server, this is good but I can imagine it loses a lot of the excitement if they are down. To date though I have not had any problems and the slopes are littered with other online players who can can easily connect with.
There is plenty of clothing to customise your look and you have about 8 different characters to choose from. Some of them you will need to pay money for but I think there is enough to be unlocked to keep you satisfied. This ranges from jackets, headgear, boards, skis, wingsuits, boots etc.
For me I have always thought SSX 3 was the best because it was the first game in which you could gently stroll down the entire hill in one go and this game does that but a millions times more open.Read more ›
During these 'demos' the game felt so unfinished, there were so many glitches and the control scheme felt so badly thought out that I decided I would not would not buy this game when it came out. Since then though, I have watched many videos of gameplay and thought, why not, and gave the game a chance. And I am glad I did. Ubisoft listened to the players and tweaked the game a bit making it much more fun.
Yes, the controls aren't the best thought out and the game doesn't explain all these controls to you but, as with any game; with practice comes competence and, despite the initial few minutes of fumbling around and failing tricks, it starts to come naturally. Soon you will be flying down the mountains busting massive tricks and loving it.
The graphics on this are really good, photo realistic mountains in some shots, the sound of the snow beneath your skis is spot on and the feeling of just cruising down a mountain is fantastic. The animations visuals on the snow displacement beneath you really add to the realism. It is a extreme sports simulator at heart but with enough arcade touches to it to make it accessible and fun.
There are people that have said that within 20 minutes or so of playing they had seen everything the game has to offer.Read more ›
Amazing graphics, lighting and game world. (Seriously the lighting is amazing and the map is huge)
The map (despite what it may seem at first) does vary in creativity with more objects to use to your advantage and many more sights to behold.
Performing stunts and flips are fun!!!!
Activities are varied and are usually fun.
Leveling up is easy and feels worth it with more areas, challenges and customisation objects to unlock.
Customisation Is awesome with a large range varying from accessories, costumes, stickers equipment and different boards to ride with.
The online multiplayer works well almost every time.
There is pretty much zero load times.
You have to be connected to a network to play the game.
The GoPro view is very sensitive at times.
The G-force meter can be frustrating when it comes to attempting more difficult tricks. (Bare in mind this feature was added to increase the realism of the game).
Paragliding is useful to get around. However the challenges set for the sport feel slow and hard to control and cant get boring. (However it is nice to have just to get to higher peaks, if you don't want to use your helicopter tickets.
Voice acting is surprisingly unreliable, sometimes it can be fine and then occasionally there will be a voice that simply makes you laugh because of how out of place it is.Read more ›

Fairly average game. It feels quite slow moving around the map and it gets repetitive quite quickly.Published 14 days ago by Dominic Mchugh
