Additionally, it should be noted that the Amazon info says that this comes with a mini displayport to displayport cable - that is NOT correct, it only comes with a VGA and a DVI cable - DisplayPort is the ONLY way (with this monitor) to get the full 2560x1440 resolution *Correction - as per comments below, DVI is also capable of full 2560x1440 output*!!! - A perfectly good cable can be found here for pocket money prices... For us mere mortals (who have a DisplayPort, for full resolution - read - Apple, or Dell device) the U2713HM is a brilliant look through the peephole of high-end screens - definitely better out there, but - at a fair amount more money,,,,
Colour purity is great (if running sRGB mode) - takes a little getting used to if you're coming from a consumer grade monitor (looks a little yellow, and the colours look a little muted - but, that is how it is 'supposed' to be!) - or, you can use the Dell software to set up 'auto' mode which switches colour profiles depending what application you're running (confirmed on Windows - unsure about OSX), screen real estate - is, as you'd expect, brilliant...
Zero stuck pixel policy on Dell U series monitors gives you a sense of security knowing that the panel will be perfect, and - if it isn't you can swap it out for a new one, with no quibbles (mine came with no pixel problems at all!)...
Inclusion of four port self powered USB3 hub on monitor (with supplied cable). and audio out through DisplayPort (either with Dell's own soundbar, or via 3.5mm jack plug to your speakers / amp [not supplied] is the icing on the cake...
Don't be put off by some reviews online regarding cross-hatching / backlight bleeding etc. - that was on monitor revision A01 (which - as early runs were logically those sent to reviewers), but - if you look online for details on the A00 revision (which all monitors made after February 2013 should be) these problems are eliminated...
Sure, you could end up with a lemon, but - odds on, you'll get a fantastic screen at half the price of the equivalent Apple Thunderbolt display (that, ironically uses exactly the same screen panel!)
Well worth it in my mind!
Update: Got a cluster of dead pixels to the left upper portion of the display after using the display almost a year. It was promptly replaced with refurbished display, that has a way more uniform backlight (still minor bleeding from the right bottom corner). So after all, I'm satisfied with the display & dell support.
Main reason I replaced my Dell U2413HM with this one is for the high resolution. This is particularly helpful for my photo editing work. it gives a lot of extra screen "room" for Lightroom. And the pixels are pin sharp! The colour reproduction is very good and with no light leak on the edges. The entire viewing area is very evenly lighted.
Although this is not 4k level, it is still offering very high resolution and good all rounded performance. Did some research on the 4k ones available on the market. They're either too expensive or very low performance. I would give it another year or two to develop until I'd give it a try. For now, the Dell U2713 is by far the better choice!
Big extra benefit that the USB ports on the side of the screen are USB 3. (which i didn't know when ordered) I've tried the connection and the speed is fast as you expected from USB3.
For those who have used Dell U series before, this is holding all the high standard with extra!
Note, the DVI cable comes with the monitor is dual link and the USB cable is SuperSpeed USB (USB3). Therefore make sure you use the ones come with this monitor and NOT your old cables for things to work!
