Top Customer Reviews
The item in question when on arrival was a gold box (not brushed gold as is in the original). There were no stickers stating "Do not accept if seal is broken"; there was only one sticker on one side which can be easily be opened and printed on it were the IMEI number and S/N.
The phone looks very much exactly like an LG G3, but it isn't quite as what it seems. There were some quality issues to the phone. For instance, when laying down a screen protector, you can easily distinguish that the screen was not completely flat and one can appreciate irregularities on the screen when seeing it on the light being reflected off from it.
There were no stickers to peel off from the phone bezels.
Box content looked cheap; thin cardboard and manual looked very cheap.
Two faults found; these were that the QI charging facility did not work and the IR blaster did not work either which raised further suspicion on its authenticity.
The biggest tell tale sign that this was a tampered/clone phone was that the IMEI code and serial number did not match the box and phone inside it.
I sent it back and got a genuine one from Amazon EU which looks like the genuine article.
Having owned the phone for a year, I feel I can confidently give this feedback
- Fantastic screen, great quality, bright and colourful. I haven't yet come across a phone that can make video look as good as the LG G3
- Still damn fast for all tasks. No real noticeable degradation of performance
- Great design aesthetically
- HOT. Gets very hot as soon as multiple apps or anything intensive runs on it. After running GTA San Andreas for 5 minutes, the power button on the back was red hot and had to close the app because the potential risk of further problems.
- Battery. I'm very careful with how I charge phones and do everything I can to maximise their lifespan, however, from the start the phone struggled to get a days light use. One year later, an hour of facebook/web browsing will result in 50% use, be prepared to buy replacement batteries/chargers.
All in all its a decent phone, but for the price (even now), I would say to stick with the cheaper options out there. Phone technology has progressed a lot and especially in the budget ranges, and the LG G3 has some critical issues that just aren't worth spending the extra cash for.
[EDIT] As of March 2017, my phone bricked after roughly a year and a half of use, presumably due to overheating issues as mentioned above. Particularly in 2017, there are better options for cheaper that will provide you with better reliability with comparable performance.
Seller described the phone as "Used - Good Titan Black LG G3. Unlocked and in good condition.May be a few light surface marks."
..in the mails sent prior & after the purchase seller "Helz" reassured the phone was single ownership and NEVER tampered.
INSTEAD screen was replaced with non original parts.
Chromatic aberration on the LCD + front camera very dark compare to other same phone on identical setting in identical light + screen moves in/out if pressed.
too many people think they can go around fooling others.
at first I couldn't make sense of the glass particles stuck under the cheap adhesive.
I couldn't make sense of the almost invisible lines in proximity of the thinnest part of the frame , both sides top and bottom, where you have the holes to accommodate the infrared sensor and the microphone.
actually the chassis of the phone has been cut in a half for some major botched screen replacement or something else I can't identify..
never seen anything like that on a smart phone.
then all came together nicely when the screen began showing up a blend of blue green and yellow on the right side and it was "soft" if pressed gently moving up and down the frame , I understood the glass particles stuck under the film were debris from the original screen that went broken.
even the charging jack seems to have gone trough some work as its well abused and loose.
LG returned it 2 weeks later, unable to fix it as it was rooted (original software tempered with!). This phone was supposed to be brand new but had obviously been used before...
In addition to this, it turns out the extra 4 pounds on my monthly bill came from the McAfee app installed on the phone (which can't be deleted or disabled) which is regularly sending texts to the main "centre" in the U.S.A!
I won't be buying from LG again...
