now thats out of the way, my personal thoughts, the watch has a very pleasingly simple legible face with a stunning amount of lume, the only issue for my self can be the legibilty of the day / date but that's only due to age and how tired i feel on the day. i bought this on a fabric strap because of the well founded reputation of Seiko's bracelets, originally it was bought as an everyday work watch and was placed on a leather NATO strap for security, not quite a "beater watch" but close. however it soon found a place in my heart as one of my favourites and no longer gets worn for work but is often chosen above watches that are 4 or 5 times the price for casual or even formal wear and is now being worn on either a quick release leather strap or quick release metal bracelet ( which despite not being expensive, is far better than the Seiko offering ) worn on either the leather or bracelet, it often get commented on by people i know who are surprised to find it's not one of my more expensive watches.
in conclusion, if you value features and astounding accuracy this may not be for you but if you like a simple, elegant watch that you can easily read in the dark, this may be for you. the only improvement i would make would be for Seiko to offer it on a decent bracelet
I pretty much guarantee you will not find a better Automatic watch than this anywhere, Even for a lot more money than the retail price on this.
It's a great size not to big not to small, also looks great on a NATO strap.
The time is very legible for quick glances and the lume is nice and bright.
A really good looking field style watch - as you can see quite a large watch at 43mm (not including crown). Unlike the ‘usual’ Seiko 5 the crown is at 3oclock position .
Although I only have a slim wrist (6.75 inches) it doesn’t hang over the edge so to speak. The lumes are bright and last all night.
I replaced the strap for a NATO strap mainly for security as the look seems better.
I recommend this a a good working watch - accurate to -0.5 second/ day so as good as a quartz (almost) but very good for a Mechanical watch.
