Product description

Size: Model 1 (for light to medium flow) | Colour: Violet

The Lunette menstrual cup is the future of feminine protection. It is your user-friendly, safe, reusable, and eco-logical alternative to pads and tampons. Plus, using Lunette helps you rack up good karma points by protecting the environment and your purse strings offering peace of mind and a stress free cycle. You're all set with Lunette: just fold, insert like a tampon, and let it do its thing. Lunette collects fluids rather than absorbing them, keeping your superior interior naturally lubricated and healthy. You empty it rather than change it, wash it, and reuse it. You'll never run out of Lunette (unlike tampons) because it runs around with you: in a pretty, convenient pouch (in case you're early) or in you, during your cycle. Relax, with Lunette, you can lose the leaks, and live your life. Welcome to the perfect period!

Now this may be a premature, and TMI review but when you're looking at a menstrual cup I'm assuming that you're okay with a bit of gross talk.

This finally came in the post this morning, and after reading alot of advice that essentially said 'practice makes perfect' I decided I should do a dry run to hasten my getting used to it. Obviously I was aware that my being not on my period could affect the process, so to compensate I used a bit of water and tried decreasing the amount of friction through... Well, stimulation, if you get what I'm saying. (I went for a book, but hey that's me being a geek - and no it wasn't fifty shades of grey)

I used an origami fold and it went in perfectly fine (I bought the size 1 - perfect for virgins and women who haven't given birth apparently, by the way I fulfill both of these criteria), I couldn't feel it even when sitting down and walking around, but during the first ten minutes I was very aware that I had something in me. After that, nada, I didn't feel a thing.
I read that the stem sometimes makes it uncomfortable, but maybe it's something to do with my having a higher cervix but I had no discomfort from it at all. (Although ladies if you do have a high cervix, aparrently the diva cup works wonders - not so much with people with lower ones)

Lunette is one of the more expensive brands, but I would say if you're a virgin/haven't given birth, AND you've never used a menstrual cup before, the lunette is probably for you. I haven't used size 2 so I can't really comment on that unfortunately as apparently the size 1 is more flexible and 'soft.'

Just a tip if you're getting one, remember to BREAK THE SEAL before attempting to take it out (oh boy, I forgot about that), you'll save yourself some pain.

I am 42 years old and this is the time time I have used a menstrual cup. Why have I never heard of these before? Because I suffer with extreme blood loss every month and also pre-menopause, Tampax and sanity towels just didn't work anymore I found them sweaty uncomfortable and dirty...... Yes ladies I suffer terrible periods to the point I worry about leaving the house.. After doing some research I ordered this.. I boiled the cup for 20 minutes and decided to give it a go.. It was fine going in but coming out was very painful because I had not read the instructions properly.. Please make sure you break the seal(suction) before trying to pull it out.. My best advice is use two fingers and pinch down around the middle of the cup then gently rock the cup side to side and also bare down and it will pop out. I have a low cervix so didn't need to push up too far and it is very comfortable to wear. I was sceptical at first but this is truly a wonderful solution for women who suffer with heavy periods ... I only wear this in the daytime for 8 hours and only on my heavy days. The only negative is it's messy and my advice would be to remove the cup sitting down over the toilet not swatting on the floor. I work mainly from home so isn't a problem for me as the sink is next to me. Not sure if I would be comfortable using this out In a public toilet but people do ...perhaps using a disabled toilet would be the best bet. It's a fantastic product and I couldn't recommend this enough to women.. It' environmentally healthier, saves you a lot of money in the long run.. I would also recommend the reusable pads by precious stars they are great for nighttime.

Fantastic product, i bought a size 2 and having never given birth was a little concerned. I bit the bullet and ordered a size 2 anyway because I have a very heavy flow (changing a tampon every 2 hours on my worst days). I'm glad I did - i couldnt feel it at all and it is easy to remove. The initial cost is worth the hundreds of pounds I will save in the future!

I was excited but also a little bit apprehensive before trying my Lunette. I fully expected it to take a few goes to get it fitting right and I was worried about comfort too. I'm actually so impressed!! It's really easy to use, does not leak and amazingly, you can't feel a thing once it's settled into position. As some one who was massively grossed out at first by the thought of a menstrual cup, I can honestly say that I will never go back. So that's a big thumbs up!

I got this as a replacement for my ladycup-which I own quite a few colours of because I love how soft and easy to fold, and also how it doesn't feel comfortable while I'm wearing it, but the "stem" part of the cup at the bottom to aid removal always bothered/irritated me so I often cut it off.

When one of my cups had a tear and leaked I thought I'll try a new brand, went on my favorite amazon prime and found the lunette, and in comparison though I would much prefer a softer cup, the stem on the Lunette is much softer strangely and I can do find without cutting it off.

I would recommend this to anyone. Menstrual cups are so easy to use, comfortable, convenient, also environmentally friendly and cost effective.

Takes a little getting used to inserting and removing, have a Google for different 'folding' methods and find out if there is one better than another. This is my first menstrual cup, and I now happily walk past the sanitary products aisle knowing I will never buy those products again. Because I am on a contraceptive pill, I get very light and erratic bleeding. Having the cup has meant that when I anticipate bleeding I can start suing it without any potential side effects or damage to my body. I can keep it in for 24 hours (it is easy to forget it is there) with no issues, but I know some people have suffered with thrush and other such infections for leaving it in that long. Having such a light flow meant that I often felt that sanitary products were being wasted, but with this it doesn't matter if it is practically empty when I remove it!
