Product description

Roland Micro Cube GX Electric Guitar Amplifier - Black - If you're buying a small amp, you know the problem: small needs to be cheap which usually means nasty. You end up getting a small amp with a sound to match - not exactly what you were after, whether you're jamming in your spare room or warming up in the green room. The Roland MICRO CUBE is the world's most popular battery-powered amp, mainly because it's small, loud, and built for life on the road (an important point as portable amps end up in all manner of weird and wonderful places). The latest addition to the MICRO CUBE range is the MICROCUBE GX, and although it has remained small, it's now even louder, has a chromatic tuner and a memory function for saving your favourite settings. And most importantly, because small amps still need to be loud, a high-gain EXTREME mode brings the number of COSM amps onboard to eight, while a HEAVY OCTAVE setting has been added for those thick, ultra-low tones that we all secretly love. Finally, the i-CUBE LINK connector opens many new opportunities for practice and recording, providing a built-in audio interface for working with music apps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You can even connect to the free CUBE Jam app for iOS and learn difficult guitar parts or just record your jamming sessions and email them to the band or the A&R man.

This is a great little amp. It is more than loud enough for personal practise and if anything it is too loud to use at night with wife and children sleeping in the house. Fortunately it sounds great through headphones, although it is possible to set it up for reasonable very low volume sounds, but be aware that it doesn't sound at its best whisper quiet. The tones are varied and useable, and I find myself using more models and effects than I thought I would, as it is quite capable of producing good approximations of the sounds of my favourite songs/guitarists.

I tend to use rechargeable batteries in mine, which make it a convenient grab and go amp. It follows me around the house when I want to play guitar, it gets used as a laptop speaker and it has been taken camping in order to amplify the music on my phone. It is tough and more than able to take knocks, and I have no concerns about leaving it in the boot of the car if necessary. The i-Link input is a great idea and I often connect my phone and jam over backing tracks. The Cube Jam app is actually very good as it has useful practise features such as pitch and tempo control, giving you a lot of mileage out of a single backing track. I use an iPhone but I see no reason why a user couldn't connect any phone running any app (or playing any mp3) through the i-Link: it isn't a proprietry connection, it's just a standard 1/8" jack, the same as the headphone socket on the back of the amp and on your phone, nothing special.

I also own a couple of low wattage tube amps but I wouldn't be without the Micro Cube, and if anything I would sell one of the other small amps before I let this go.

Beautiful piece of kit and great sound and volume. the range of effects is also nice. Only disappointment is that you can't have guitar and mic in at same time-has only one input, for EITHER mic OR guitar.

This is a superb little amp, excellent sound & build quality with a good range of quality effects. Like others on here I originally bought a Vox Mini3 G2 and returned it due to cheap build quality and constant hiss when switched on (even with the volume/gain right down). The Roland Micro Cube GX is more expensive than the Vox but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this product if you're looking for a small guitar amp with a big sound that's capable of running on batteries.

I love this little amp! It does so much and gives me great pleasure to practice at home and the numerous settings are beyond belief for the money. I am sure that it could be used very effectively for small gigs as it has good volume and is suitable for any electric guitar.I pondered over so many for a long time sufferng the crackles and bangs of my old amp and now wish I had settled for this staight away instead of wasting time. BUY IT.

This is amazing! I've been playing for 20 years, and I have owned Marshall Stacks and Orange amps and have been using a Vox AC30 for the last 10 years. This amp does all of these sounds very well. I play in a covers band at weddings and pubs, and I use it for practice with the full band and it's loud enough to keep up with the drums and a very loud bass player. Obviously it's not loud enough to play Wembley stadium.

The effects are very usable, and I don't bother bringing my pedal board to practice any more. The battery life is good, and I use it to play my mp3 player through as well.

Amazing how much practice amps have come on in the last 10 years.

Brilliant little amp. I have played an electro acoustic guitar for a long time and I needed something new, well this certainly delivered. Using the amp simulators and effects will keep me going for ages. You want hard rock from a acoustic, here it is. The Jazz cube and chorus settings are pure magic. Also my new classical guitar with built in piezo sounds marvellous. How come it took me so long to find out?

Love this Amp. Perfect for me. Sat on the settee at night once the wife and kids are in bed. Sounds great quiet which is what I needed and loads of versatility from clean jazz tones to full on distortion. My only gripe is that the effects (as awesome as they are) are very prominent even on the lowest setting so no suttleties here.

I bought this as an amplifier for my electric silent violin - a Yamaha.
This is primarily a guitar amp and works very well for its intended purpose I imagine.
Some of the effects are a bit bizarre when playing violin music though - very strange, but interesting!
Does enable one to punch out some very strong sound from an instrument which is perhaps mostly intende or used for quiet practice while not annoying the family or the neighbours.
Still pleased with it although it is difficult to get an authentic violin sound out of it.
Can well recommend it for anyone taking up electric guitar.
Excellent autonomy from the built in battery pack as well as mains or usb power. Forcefull sound!
