Style: MSI NVIDIA GTX 980TI GAMING 6GB Verified Purchase
Pros: very silent even at full load, fans don't spin at light load . No coil whine! Shorter than other 980ti like Asus Strix or Gigabyte G1, makes it suitable for micro atx case. Tested Batman Arkham Knight at 4k, returned respectable 54fps (see attached pics.) I wanted a mature 980ti in terms of AIB cooler. MSI twin Frozr V is more mature than Asus Strix's new Direct CUIII, which I was considering to get. Overall I would highly recommend this card.
Cons: none experienced yet, will update if I do.

WARNING : I bought this product used from Amazon's warehouse (so someone else had returned it), and it arrived on Saturday. When I opened the box, I noticed no backplate on the card. A bit gutted by this but ok I thought maybe someone took the backplate for themselves and returned it without, not the end of the world. Then I noticed the card only had one power connector, not two - uhoh. It was then I realised that someone had swapped the 980ti for what appeared to be a 960 (I daren't put it in my rig and fire up GPU-Z to find out what it was in case it fried my PC). The cards look pretty identical to the untrained eye, so I presume someone out there is scamming Amazon and swapping a £500 card for a £160 one, the returns guys don't notice as the cards look almost identical. Just thought I'd put this out there as a warning to others, as there are some other cards for the same price on sale from the Warehouse and someone might have done this en masse.

This review is for the card, purely and simply. there's no whining about the cost as if you're savvy you'll get the best price you can. Overclockers.co.uk are selling these at £290 + delivery at the moment and there are even cheaper options available if you look hard enough (though make sure you go with a reputable retailer as PC components are a bugger for dying!).

Anyway, this card is an absolute stonker! Bought as a replacement for my dead Zotac GTX 770 AMP! which in itself was a beast. This card is something else though. It's super quiet, even under load. It handles anything you can throw at it (I only use 1900x1080) on Ultra settings, is easy to install and set up and just looks amazing. Beautiful piece of gear!

If you're considering a top end graphics card and want something powerful and quiet, this is a 'Must buy'! If you can afford the 980 then I am jealous, but this will do just fine for us mere mortals.

There are some good reviews of this card vs other GTX 970's and this tends to win across the board. Do yourself a favour and buy this!

Although the unit I purchased turned out defective, I was still able to observe how good this card is during the short time I had used it.

Gaming Performance:
This card is aimed at 1080p use, and it performs very well. It's 40-50% slower than the GTX 970, but it's half the price and would serve those wishing to play most newly released games on high setting.

The limited bandwidth (the amount of data that can flow at any given time) means that this card may not stay the entirety of its intended life cycle. The 2GB VRAM argument also something to consider, however this card will run out of graphical grunt before it saturates above 2GB VRAM in most cases.

These are things that must be considered as the GTX 970 may be a better buy with regards to longevity.

Noise:
This card is extremely silent. At full load, the fans spin at 800rpm, which is virtually silent. Compared with my old R9 270, which ran at 2,200rpm, this feels like a much welcome addition. When idling, the card emits no noise and the fans do not spin. For those seeking absolute silence, look no further than this card.

Heat:
Heat is a massive issue with graphics cards. My R9 290 used to reach 82c when at full load in my mini itx system. I'm happy to report this card in the same case reached only 63c while providing more graphical horsepower and making less noise.

Drawbacks:
-Limited bandwidth may hinder future games
-2GB Ram may be an issue (although unlikely)
- Card is very long
-Coil whine may be present

Conclusion:
This card performs well for the price, but is exceptional in how little noise and heat it emits. If you're looking for the coolest and quiestest card available, look no further than the MSI GTX 960.

This is a solid mid-range card and performs better in games than my AMD R9 270. This is not just down to more graphical power, but because of the excellent driver support from Nvidia.

This was the first major upgrade to my rig in the 4 years since I'd built it - and what a worthy upgrade! This replaced a Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti (go ahead, laugh it up!) but I refuse to bad mouth that card, as it has performed so well on nearly all modern games using medium/high settings even on GTA V. Even then, it still battled on like a lone soldier in a warzone, never refusing to give up. But it was time to lay it to rest and find a worthy replacement with a good price to performance ratio - incomes the GTX 970. At first, I couldn't decide between this and the R9 390, which despite having the advantage with its 8GB of VRAM, it still traded blows with the 970. As I have no plans to upgrade from 1080p any time soon, and a higher resolution would favour the 390, plus the fact that games tend to favour Nvidia somewhat, I went with the MSI GTX 970 and I am not dissapointed so far.

I've gone through a catalogue of some games that I couldn't max out with the 560 Ti, like the Assassins Creed games, Dishonured, Watchdogs (with the Worse Mod), Dying Light and GTA V. No surprises in saying that the 970 obliterated all those games with ease. It was a breeze installing the card in my NZXT Phantom full tower case. I just removed the old drivers in safe mode using DDU whilst the 560 was still installed, then I removed it and popped in the 970 and downloaded the drivers from the nvidia website (never from the CD) - done! The card runs very cool and so quiet, and hasn't exceeded 58 degrees during gaming. It's safe to say that I'm thoroughly satisfied with the GTX 970.
