Will your team be enough to keep the viruses at bay for a whole year? Craft your own unique Pandemic experience with Pandemic Legacy.

What to expect
During the campaign, new rules and components will be introduced. These will sometimes require you to permanently alter the components of the game; this includes writing on cards, ripping up cards and placing permanent stickers on components. Your characters can gain skills or detrimental effects. A character can even be lost entirely, at which point it's no longer available for play.

PS - if you can't truly bring yourself to permantly alter the game there are plenty of guides online on how to keep the game in pristine condition without needed to destroy or mark cards but in my opinion this changes the nature of the game and other players might want to just get on with the game.
For a start, if you have never played Pandemic all of the other positive reviews that you'll read about the original game apply. Pandemic still is one of the best introductions to co-operative board games, and with one or two of the expansions it is still a compelling experience for more grizzled veterans of these sorts of games as well. If you have played Pandemic before, skip to the next paragraph. If you haven't, Pandemic takes place on a board game denoting a map of the world, with various cities throughout the world represented. Players are a team of scientists fighting to stop the spread of, and ultimately cure, a number of diseases that are threatening to overrun the planet, the diseases being represented by coloured cubes that built up on, and spread out from cities. Each turn players may move from city to city, attempt to contain diseases, and use their own individual abilities to turn the tide, but fundamentally the aim is to collect enough cards of a particular type to 'cure' each disease before time runs out or the world is overrun. After each individual turn the game bites back by spreading the disease further, with 'outbreaks' being an ever present possibility, and this constantly keeps you on your toes. Ultimately the original Pandemic has been rightly praised as being immersive, exciting, challenging yet generally fair.
Pandemic Legacy takes that original game and turns it into something quite different.Read more ›
With this once a month is done you move onto the next one and you are given new objectives so it isn't the same game with the most anti-climatic ending over and over again.
Winning or losing doesn't essentially matter, YOU WILL LOSE occasionally sometimes down to just bad luck, the game still moves on and new objectives are given. If you lose a month you don't get the bonus if you win then the next month may get easier.
Anyone saying this isn't worth it as the game is redundant once all the months are completed should actually play the game and realise it is perfect.
I've played this with two and didn't notice a higher difficulty because of this.
I will be buying season 2 as soon as it arrives
It's a great way to make a game unique and more interesting by increasing the stakes and tailoring it to your play style.
It does mean you will only get to play it once as a Legacy game (that does mean somewhere between 12 and 24 individual games) although you can use the board as a standard Pandemic board afterwards.
It's a really good game!
Pandemic itself was already the best co-operative board game out there to date, but Pandemic Legacy incorporates a narrative campaign element that makes this a truly unique and incredible experience. This game is rated #1 on BoardGameGeek for a reason.
In Pandemic Legacy each game you play is a month of the year where you are trying to tackle the diseases that reek havoc across the globe. You have two chances to complete the objectives for each month, meaning a you are looking at a minimum of 12 games and a maximum of 24. Each month will pose a different challenge as the story develops and your priorities change.
For those wondering if it works with 2 players - it does. A lot of people suggest playing with two characters each but me and my partner preferred playing with just the one character each and it worked really well. It is our favourite tabletop game so far.
I felt uneasy about spending so much money on a game but my word it is worth it. Don't worry about it going too quickly; most games of Pandemic end up taking over an hour and you are very unlikely to pass each month first time. Not only that, but we often spent a good half hour during set up deciding what combination of characters would be best and then another good half hour after each game deciding what bonuses to give ourselves. You certainly get your moneys worth.
