New Swedish Synthpop duo Eurotix (Dennis Alexis Hellström & Larry Forsberg) released their debut album “The Secret” on May 10th. The album includes the singles “I Plead Insanity” and the rather spectacular “Life As It Slips Away” plus the forthcoming single “Let’s Die Young” which, in my opinion, is one of the stand-out tracks among an album of high-quality 80’s style Synthpop anthems with a modern twist. Other highlights are the title track “The Secret”, “The European Man” (hopefully a future single) and the album closer “We Have Built a Satellite (To Make It Crash)”.

If you love good quality Synthpop, you should give Eurotix a try – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Every now and then you come across an album that simply blows you away and the debut album by Swedish Synthpop duo Eurotix falls easily into that category.

This duo have been steadily getting attention across Europe and it is easy to see why from the opening track "Superstar" we have an album that oozes Synthpop melodies, the single "I Plead Insanity" is pop perfection with it's driving bass-line, hooks and sing-a-long chorus. The album is awash with upbeat synthpop tracks and the next single "Let's Die Young" delivers once again, "After Before, Before After" is quitepossibly one of the finest synth ballads ever written, it is superb.

"Life As It Slips Away" is already a contender for track of the year at WLR, it's disco, it's pop, it's brilliant, great chorus and wonderful sequenced sections, perfect Synthpop! "Replay" reminded me of The Eurythmics and is a track that is different from most of the other tracks on the album. "I'm Ready For My Close-Up" is the weakest track on the album but things are soom remedied with the Ultravox themed "The European Man", if Midge Ure was singing on this track you would definitely swear it was Ultravox! This fast paced track with it's 4 to the floor beat and chugging bass-line has to be considered as a future single.

The albums title track "The Secret" is another well executed synth ballad, a track that really showcases the talent that Larry & Dennis have, the song draws you in right from the start. We are back to Italo Disco with the infectious "Don't Let Go".

A fantastic synthpop album, inspired by the 80s but at the same time completely modern. Every song will come take place in your head (and in your heart) and won't go anymore, making the day brighter even if it's cloudy or rainy. The singles "I Plead Insanity" and "Life As It Slips Away" are both high quality tunes, good to listen at home, in your car, in the street or to bring you on the dancefloor and make you crazy. But if there had to be any song of the album that would have to be a B-side (so supposed to be of a little less quality) I couldn't find any. Every track is of the best, as if Eurotix' first album would already be a best of, and the promise of a fantastic futur for these swedish artists. If I have to pick only one song I can't, but besides the two singles and the forthcoming one, please listen to "Superstar" and "We Have Built a Satellite". And you sure will love to listen to Dennis Alexis Hellström's angel voice singing about "The Secret".
Unfortunately Amazon only gives the posibility to rate until 5 stars, while this album deserves 10 !
