So after hearing all the hype from Deadmau5, I decided to check this EP out and it was probably one of the best musical decisions I've ever made in my life! This EP is nothing short of special. Rock N' Roll is just pure brilliance with great melodies and disgustingly good bass lines. Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites is probably the highlight of the EP with a perfect mix of all different types of electronic music. Kill Everybody is another strong track that will be explosive live. All I Ask Of You shows the more melodic side of Skrillex and the great lyrical work from Penny. Scatta is straight up Dubstep at it's best and Foreign Beggars just adds another dimension to the track. The original tracks finish off with the absolutely fantastic With Your Friends which is one of my personal favourites. The melody is second to none and the use of vocoder makes it a truly special track. The 3 remixes are all pretty good and the highlight being the Noisia remix of Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites. Overall this EP is just a brilliant collection of electronic tracks. If you haven't listened to the My Name Is Skrillex EP then I advise to do so as it is as equally as good as Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites. I will definitely be on the look out for more material from Skrillex and on any tour dates. So basically get this EP!

At £14.00, this is a very expensive CD, and very short. I wouldn't have bought it myself, but thankfully I was gifted it.

Song 1: Rock and Roll - Has a solid melody and bassline you would not expect from the first song. 9.5/10.

Song 2: Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites - Has a slightly mediocre beginning, but then he squeezes everything nice and dirty into a drop to satisfy the thrill seekers. 10/10.

Song 3: Kill Everybody - A robotic suicide bomber pledging to kill humanity is then followed by something else epic. You have to check it out on YouTube or something to understand it. 10/10.

Song 4: All I ask of you - This is a more relaxed song which flows nicely from one end to the other. The vocals from Penny are a pleasant addition. Yet it falls a bit short of the standard set by the previous songs. 8.5/10.

Song 5: Scatta - A mish mash of different sounds combine to make a song which oozes of ambition and bad assets, but lacks cohesion. Foreign Beggars input is obvious, but doesn't necessarily make it better. 8/10.

Song 6: With You, Friends - This appears to be influenced by Daft Punk, vocoder seems to have been used. Different, and shows off his versatility well. 9/10

Remix 1: Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Noisia) - A decent remix which is solid in its own right, but suffers due to the exceptional standard the original song achieved. 9/10.

Remix 2: Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Zedd) - Has some great moments, but there are rare and it is largely quite an average remix. 7/10.

Remix 3: Kill Everybody (Bare Noise) - After hearing many mediocre remixes of Dubstep and other genres alike, I was shocked to notice this might actually be better than the original. I rated the original 10/10 so... 11/10.

It may seem overpriced, but it was one of the best CDs I have ever listened to.
By the way, buy his other album Bangarang as well.

This amazing album, from the emo-leader of from first to last, it's a mixture of great electro vibration, with dubstep influence. His great distorted bass, the "growl" bass, make this album perfect.
The album contains 6 original tracks and three remixes, with unbelievable guest, such as foreign beggars and the drm n' bass kings, Noisia.

Skrillex has been a widely talked about and recognisable producer and DJ on the world electronic music stage through 2011 and 2012 ever since this EP came out in late 2010. While his other work has received praise and the expected criticism of a rising star with a unique style, none of it has had as much of an impact than Scary Monsters so far. The EP itself has earned a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronica Album at the 2012 awards, and the title track received the honour of Best Dance/Electronica Recording at the same event. It's unlike anything that has come before it in the electronic music world; it oozes with originality and takes the genre to another level, which is why I don't think Skrillex can be criticised for apparently "ruining" dubstep as this music cannot simply be labelled and confined to a single sub-genre. The song Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites, as well as winning a Grammy, has recieved much internet attention which I think only goes to show its impact. As I write this review it still remains Skrillex's highest viewed video on youtube, nearing 83,000,000 views (a high view count for any video), and features in many other videos of people getting a reaction to the song from their parents or grandparents. While this track has been the focus of attention with it's distinctive bold bass sound and nice synth notes it certainly isn't one hit wonder EP. The songs Rock 'N' Roll (Will Take You To The Mountain) and Kill Everybody floored me and just make you want to jump around, dance and kind of headbang in places, while the remixes included on the EP provide a good and different take on the original.

This is the DJ/producer of the moment to watch and listen to right now.
