I'll preface this review with the fact that this is the first DG album I've bought and listened to, having heard many rave reviews and having caught a few tracks here and there.

To be honest, this is by and large predictable dance-pop floor fillers. A minute or so of 'uplifiting' vocals followed by the sawtooth synth chipping in, perhaps along with some beats fading in. This is the norm on this album with very little standing out.

However, 'Lovers on the sun' is actually a cracking track. Well written and delivered, and demonstrating what Mr Guetta is obviously capable of.
'What I did for love' isn't too shabby either and nice to hear some piano chord strikes in there rather than the obvious synth choice.
'I'll keep loving you' however seems to be written specifically for people to play at their wedding and to stare doe-eyed at each other for three minutes. I look forward to that with the required amount of sarcasm.

I'll leave the rest of the tracklist alone. It's all well executed but just too ... predicatable. Some of it even sounds like coldplay got involved in the lyrics, and that isn't a great thing in this instance.

There also seems to be some mastering issues. No matter what environment I listen to this in I can hear what I can only assume to be overuse of the compressor. Instruments blend together when on the edge of clipping in a very strange way. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly it is but would have hoped for more clarity on a top selling album.

I'll give DG another go at some point and pick something from his earlier catalogue as that might perhaps be more to my taste.

Overall though, a bit dissapointed. I was very much looking forward to listening to this album many times over and I can't see that happening in all honesty.

For "Listen", his follow-up to 2011's smash "Nothing but the beat", David Guetta said that he changed his working methods, building tracks acoustically rather than adding vocals to a beat. Whatever the method, the result is as impressive as ever. As with any DG album, the list of collaborators is nothing short of stellar. Many of the tracks may utilise familiar formulas, but when they sound this good it is anything but negative. In fact, what I enjoy most about the new album is the creativity with which he pushes the musical envelope with some tracks and the artists that he chooses to collaborate with. Mixing dance, pop and electronica, fantastic beats, killer hooks and a sprinkling of powerful vocals, he has crafted another solid dance album, filled with potential smash hits. Lead single "Dangerous" featuring Sam Martin is so out of left field that had me taken aback by its stunning brilliance. But it is "The whisperer", his new collaboration with Sia, that will really catch everyone off guard (unless anyone is expecting a piano ballad from him). He may be accused for producing formulaic EDM, but he sure is the golden goose churning out golden egg after golden egg. This might as well be a platinum one.

Been a David Guetta fan for a while, and this album is not his best but its still a very good album. I would prefer to see less collaboration with other stars and more of his own stuff. On a whole its defo worth the money, and still a great album.

I admit that I’m late to the party of purchasing Listen by David Guetta because I did not buy this cd until January 30th of this year (which was also after hearing his music featured on the radio, Pandora, iheartradio etc). I admit that Dangerous, Lovers On The Sun, and Hey Mama are some of the multiple tracks that I’m enjoying on the Listen compilation right now (I’m not ashamed to admit its partially because I heard these songs also featured on the radio). However, there is something for everybody on this Listen because of the various artists featured on this cd (Sia Ryan Tedder, Emeli Sande, The Script, Bebe Rexha, Magic & Sonny Wilson etc.). I admit that I like the inclusion of his collaborations with other artists on Listen because of his previous tracks which are also collaborations; Who’s That Chick (feat. Rihanna), Turn Me On (feat. Nicki Minaj), Commander and When Love Takes Over (feat. Kelly Rowland), Titanium (feat. Sia), Bad Girl (feat. Taio Cruz and Ludacrais). Listen by David Guetta is perfect for those who like club/dance music feat. various artists.

My husband brought this for me as a valentines present along with a few other bits!!! I have enjoyed listening to a lot of his tracks on his older albums and was expecting this one to be as good, but left disappointed and really let down.
I do a lot of walking and like high bass/up tempo music and a lot of his other tracks are to my liking.

This album is very mellow and i find it hard to listen to it really!
There may be about two tracks that i can tolerate listening too!!!
Like other reviewers on here i agree there isn't enough of his own music!!! I wont be buying any more of his albums!!!
