By M. Dowden HALL OF FAMETOP 50 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 2 Feb. 2016
Format: Audio CD
In some ways this a slightly different direction in places for Rod Picott as he breaks into a wider range as this is very inward looking and contemplative for the artist. Apparently Rod wanted to record this quickly so he could put the immediacy of his feelings across to all of us, which in some ways does and doesn’t work.

There are tacks here which compare to his other work, whereas some could have done with a bit of polishing, and these ones do sort of ramble on a bit. There is also on occasion a feeling of perhaps a bit too much indulgence which does detract and not make this as good as other albums he has released.

It is good to see Rod moving slightly out of his comfort zone and making this, and with his trying to tell us that fate, or luck plays a big part in our lives (which the title of this album refers to), but it does feel a little bit of a disappointment, and we know that Rod can do better.

In all this is a nice album to listen to, but it isn’t great, and I know I have been a bit picky here and so others may really enjoy this. It is best to listen to the MP3 samples or find this album on a streaming service first, to decide if you are interested in this.
