Format: Audio CD
'Change Giver' is the 1994 debut album of Shed Seven, one of several underrated bands to emerge from the '90s Britpop scene who nevertheless released some good music that made an impact.

The album climbed into the UK top twenty and spawned three hit singles: 'Dolphin' (a lost Britpop classic), 'Speakeasy' and 'Ocean Pie', which were undoubtedly the highlights. All of the songs are very catchy and the whole disc is very playable, but quite a few sound virtually the same. This doesn't take away any enjoyment from it though, it was a good debut and a sign of better things to come.

The band would release their far superior album 'A Maximum High' two years after 'Change Giver' in 1996, it was arguably their best and included their biggest single 'Going For Gold', with gave them a top ten hit. Personally, I would buy that album first and then you can decide if you want to listen to Shed Seven further.

Many people dis the sheds, they are missing out. Some of their choices for singles may be poor but the quality of music is excellent on average. Change Giver opens with the rocking Dirty soul, then moves on to the catchy speak easy, then later come the delights of missing out, mark and Dolphin. If you've never bought a shed seven album this is a good place to start.

Cracking debut album from a much maligned and underrated band. Not as good as the follow-up 'A Maximum High' but better than their later offerings (in my opinion!)

This album, is good clean fun. It takes me back to the days of indie/pop in the early ninties, where bands like these were starting out. In general a good first effort, showing the bands less mature musical ability. Rick Witters flexible voice shines through in tracks like 'Dolphin'. classics like speakeasy wil always be on my mind. Although the lesser of their released albums they have layed a good foundation to their more grand album 'maximum high' - which is an absolute treat

It's all about right place right time.

In terms of commercial success they never really cracked it, but they are one great live act and this album is a brilliant piece of the 90's that I will always go back to. Comparisons with other bands are always not too good an indication so I won't bother. Just trust me - if you were in your teens in the 90's and liked the whole britpop thing it doesn't get better. Albums that followed had great moments but this has none of the weak spots. Straight forward music, you can't help singing along to
