A fine Tom Hanks film.

Not a masterpiece, but good quality. Good family entertainment.

I've been searching for ages for a DVD copy of this film, which is one of our favourites. The story is haunting even though a comedy, and after watching it a couple of times you pick up on the recurring themes, shapes etc. The main characters are obviously great, but some of the minor ones are unforgettable, like the brilliant cab driver and the manager in the dreadful office "he can get the job, but can he do the job?". So glad to have found it again.

It has been very difficult to get hold of this film in the UK. I saw it years ago on TV and enjoyed it so much I have been searching ever since to obtain a copy.
This film was not a big box office hit when it was released and the critics were less than complimentary. I think it is very underrated, probably because there are no special effects or overt sex and violence.
It is a simple storyline and has a happy ending. Works for me!

Simply put the best feel good film of all time. My favorite film. Better than the Entire Lord of the rings, and I believe even Casablanca. Like all films some people will hate it, others like it, and still others adore it. I am one of these last set of others.
Joe is plucked from a meanlingless life, into an adventure whose final chapter must mean the end of his life. He has one month to live like he has never lived. And he does.
Who else would ever have the excuse and need to purchase luggage like that!
I believe this film is really for a select group of people who want to live the key line "My father says almost the whole world's asleep. Everybody you know, everybody you see, everybody you talk to. He says only a few people are awake. And they live in a state of constant, total amazement."
Its for people who don't need any sort of drug to feel high. For people who just need an occasional reminder on what life's priorities really are.
