The way this DVD is described I was expecting to see an actual live performance or at least 55 mins worth of clips from different performances edited together. What you get is a documentary following Peter on his tour with some clips of him on stage (a lot of which is him pointing a camera at the audience).
This would have made a very good bonus feature on the previously released DVD but on its own it was a massive let down. If you really love Peter Kay then get it but if you want an actual stand-up comedy performance don't bother.
I have now changed my score from 2 stars to 1 after watching the DVD for a second time. I thought I'd give it another go but just ended up even more pissed off at myself for going against my better judgement and buying this rubbish.

Well im lucky to be the first reviewer after making my purchase weeks ago for the wife.

here we have Peter Kay at his very best, or worst i should say. not since Special Kay have we had such an expensive monologue of clips and rehashed materials, yes, there is SOME new material but not as much as the DVD claims. Instead we are again faced with interviews from people all over the Uk declaring their love for Peter and what they like best about his shows which is fine if it was bundled as a special feature - which is what this should have been. Not only that but we have a multitude of old clips from various TV spots, appearances and the like which again are ok in moderation and if they were bundled as a special feature.

For example, this is whats on the DVD:
1: Couple of interviews with the public
2: about 35 minutes of extended footage of peter kay looking around the gig with camera? why
3: various tv spots from look north?
4: a few interviews to pad it out with peter
5: about 10 minutes of ACTUAL new (not yet convinced) stand up

I understand the need to make a living but releasing these types of DVD's is just money grabbing and ripping off your loyal customers. We do love you Peter and you need to make a better effort with the quality of your DVD's in future or you will just end up being known for a comedian that peddles rubbish in the hope that the gullible UK public spend their hard earned cash on your DVD's for xmas presents.

This should have been a special feature addon to the DVD which was released last year.

As i have said above, we as a family love your comedy, timing and comedic presence but we do not appreciate being ripped off every year.

the title says it all, Peter Kay back to his old ways releasing a DVD that contains VERY LITTLE new material, alot of old stuff and some behind the scenes and interviews which as already stated should have been on a bonus disc from last year.

I really used to like Peter Kay but his consistent attempts to rip off the public so that he can line his pockets is now past a joke, I wont be buying anything else to do with Peter Kay ever again!

Simply a huge ripoff. Thinking like everyone else that this contained his actual stand up gig, sat down to watch. After about 10 minutes, I started to think I'd selected the wrong option from the menu, but no. It continued in much the same vein, showing clips of interviews and TV slots and parts of the gig where Peter was interacting with the crowd as they arrived.

In the interim skipped forward research in the hope that the gig would eventually start, but it didn't. What a complete ripoff!!

I purchased this DVD for a cosy night in with the fiancée.

We got ourselves ready with some Dinner (Burger, Coleslaw, Mash & sweet potatos) with some Vimto. Put on the DVD ready to erupt in laughter like a Geyser in Yellowstone Nation Park.
How wrong were we to think this was a stand up show??

After checking Amazon reviews after attempting to watch this garbage I am glad to say I'm not the only person in this boat. It wasn't really a stand up show at all, just a mix of clips edited together with snippets of 'Behind The Scenes'.

I wish we could go to Yellowstone Nation Park for our Honeymoon and I'd throw this DVD in a Geyser myself.

Having purchased Peter Kay's latest effort "Back on Nights", I can honestly say that this is the last DVD of his that I will be buying. What a con. Waited for the show to start only to find Peter Kay filming the audience plus loads of other bits of nonsense, I expected a comedy performance and was left totally dissapointed. Why don't you have an option for zero stars too?

I just wish there was an option for 0 stars, as I'd use it. Awful rip off! Re-hashing of old material with a few other interviews. Why is there 30+ minutes of Peter filming the audience??? C'mon!! 5 minutes max as this is a novel idea, but 30 minutes? Very little new material. I used to like Peter but now find his cynical, patronising, bad behaviour both annoying and unfunny. If you like Peter Kay & want to buy a Peter Kay DVD, try Phoenix Nights or Max & Paddy's Road to Nowhere, if you haven't already bought them. These *are* funny with original material, where as this current DVD isn't worth the money.
