I personally feel that many of my fellow reviewers are getting the wrong end of the stick somewhat regarding this movie.
Comedy is always subjective and when thrown together with fantasy it can be a recipe for disaster.

This film however had me in stitches from the start "guvnor".

Set in an alternative dimension where prisoners in "English" prisons play soccer tournaments to while away the hours unlike the dimension in which we all live where they're locked up 23 hours a day there are high jinks aplenty.

Wonderfully cast by "Dick Van Dyke associates" the film revolves around the Green street gang a band of lovable sociopaths unfairly banged up for crimes they did commit although probably Thespian in origin and their trials and tribulations up against a Millwall "firm" determined to show them their place in society.

Reading into the making of the film I notice that the writers and director studied the brutality of the penal system by watching hours of "porridge" and by jingo it pays off , there's bent screws aplenty and a wonderful central performance as chief warder from Marina Sirtis ex Star trek no less who manages to pull off a wonderful character not unlike the wicked queen in Snow white crossed with Hilda Baker.

Filmed for added reality in America , it's a testament to the makers that they managed to find such a wealth of genuine cockney actors , some of whom may even have heard of Prison, football or London.

One down point for me is the casting of Ross McCall, why oh why did they not just pay the extra ten bob and get in Joe Swash instead of this "lookey-likey" it really spoilt the feel for me.

Anyway file under C for Comedy and you should be AOK.

I cant beleive how terrable this film is.
The accent of the main character is embarrassing to
say the least its a bad copy of Jason Statham. In no way
really does it have any relevance to Green Street which was a
fantastic film

This is a very disapointing purchase

Well, what a hideous piece of "cinema" that was. I'm big a fan of "hooligan" type films but this is just utterly dire. Characters, location and plot are all just plain wrong in this film. Garbage. The only saving grace was that my copy cost me $2 in Kabul so it was no great loss throwing it in the bin. I did have to snap it in half though, just to prevent some other poor fool stumbling across and, god forbid, watching it....

This is an extremely bad prison drama, that looks like it's been filmed in America, it doesn't resemble the original film much, cause it's got very few of the actors from the first movie in it.The story line is shockingly bad and the acting leaves alot to be desired. I'm not surprised this movie went straight to DVD and I feel like a mug for buying it, If I could have given it no stars I would have.

I was loooking forward to this film being relased, but i was a bit disopointed.. There were just a handfull of the original cast, a bit unrealistic towards early release depending on a game of five a side! If i hadn't paid a tenner for it i would have probably switched it off half way through...
