NEW EUROPEAN VERSION (PAL Formatted) Includes subtitles in SPANISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, PORTUGUESE, and RUSSIAN 45 kilograms overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope. Tipping the scales at 140 kg, Joe saw a path laid out before him that wouldn't end well. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicle's Joe's personal mission to regain his health. With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long-term, Joe turns to the only option left, the body's ability to heal itself. He trades the junk food and hits the road with juicer in tow, vowing to only drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for 60 days. Across almost 5,000 kilometers Joe has one goal in mind: to get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle. While talking to more than 500 Americans about food, health and longevity, it's at a truck stop in Arizona where Joe meets a truck driver who suffers from the same rare condition. Phil Staples is morbidly obese weighing in at 194 kgs; a cheeseburger away from a heart attack. As Joe is reclaiming his life, Phil begins his own epic journey to get well. What emerges is nothing short of amazing - an inspiring tale of healing and human connection.

Amazing, so blunt and to the point.
At first I thought Joe Cross was a bit dippy, but when you understand where he is coming from you warm to him.
My main interest was to get rid of migraine, and maybe shedding a few pounds of middle age spread wouldn't go amiss.
I used the juicer attachment on our magi mix food processor to see if this regimen actually works before shelling out on a juicer. ( the Magi Mix is not my domain )
I also was given a copy of The Juice Master book By Jason Vale, (This includes a Migraine recipe That works)
over two months I have lost a stone and a half in weight, the weekly migraine that has been constant for forty odd years has stopped, for good I hope.
The love handles and pot belly have gone completely, I have so much energy I look forward to going to the gym again.
I can actually see my stomach muscles again, they vanished in my forties.
I find my mind is a lot clearer, sex drive has improved, I just feel so well in myself.
I thought it would be horrible drinking vegetable juice, but they are really lovely, ginger is wonderful.
Fruit Juices are so nice.
I bought a Philips Juicer and a Blender, really good ones,(so easy to clean).
A friend bought a Juicer for 25 quid, does the job. so it need not cost an arm and leg,
The cost of the fruit and veg is more than offset by the savings on head ache pills, junk food, days off work sick, etc. I no longer crave sugar, coffee, sweeteners or any processed foods.Read more ›
Joe Cross has created a truly inspirational film. Watching it was the definition of uplifting. I watched this whilst on a three week juice fast and we were blown away by it. I've watched the main film several times and the extra features add a lot to the main message.
Inside the US DVD case (and I assume the UK version too) comes with a recipe for the main juice used in the film. Juicing will help everyone even if they just use it as an extra to their normal diet. Humans are designed to work best on clean air, water, fresh fruit and vegetables. I was surprised to learn that celery and kale contain plenty of calcium and I can do without milk entirely.
Juicing in the way this film outlines also makes it easier to quit other things; especially caffeine, and wheat. The micronutrients flooding the system wash out all the toxins and give you more energy to do without things that would be hell to quit otherwise.
The film and rebootwithjoe.com I think would benefit from details on what supplements Joe took during the fast, to supplement Omega 3 oil and proteins during the fast. Also when I fasted I used colonics to keep my digestive system moving, because fasting only on juice takes most of the fibre out of the diet. Without colonics I think it's recommended to take other supplements to keep the bowels moving.
In essence even without the other words of my review, just watch the film, look at Joe and the people he meets at the end of their journey from the beginning, and that will show you what you can get out of a juice diet or fast. We're only alive on this planet once. Why not spend it feeling alive? Plus getting healthier and hooked on a healthy diet is simply cheaper too.
