Deep in the Romanian forest, a team of scientists stumbles upon the ruins of a 13th Century Abbey. On further inspection, they make a startling discovery the Abbey is built over the entrance to a giant underground cave system, so they hire a group of American cave-explorers to help them investigate its depths. JACK (Cole Hauser) and his brother TYLER (Eddie Cibrian) are thrill-seeking professional cave explorers who run a team of the top divers in the world. They arrive in Romania with all the latest equipment, including a new type of scuba tank allowing a diver to remain submerged for up to 24 hours. The Crack units, which also includes CHARLIE (Piper Perabo) and BUCHANAN (Morris Chestnut), immediately begins their exploration. But what they find deep inside the cave is not just a new eco-system, but an entirely new species altogether ..

1. Poor acting and script
2. Rip off from much better films
3. Poor editting and camera work (how many times does that camera swing round and is it my eyes or are the 'action' scences cut to pieces?
This film has got to one of the worst I've seen recently. Poor shot, acted and scripted, it stinks. The story is, I'll give it this, pretty original (to a certain extent) but as previous reviewers have pointed out, accuracy has been sacrificed for the story - a poor swap in my opinion.
Predictable with a cheesy ending.
Want a scary film about caves - go watch "Descent".
As there is no "zero" stars rating it gets one from me - am now off to sell my watched once copy!
On the plus side though, it is a competent and atmospheric chiller which is guaranteed to make claustrophobes curl their toes in extreme discomfort! It is also superbly filmed amidst a very impressive cave setting (somewhere in Mexico I believe). The 5.1 surround sound is also top notch - those of you with decent home cinema systems are in for a treat.
Without giving away any spoilers, I must admit to finding the ending rather weak and silly though.
Worth watching, nonetheless.
Then I caught it on Sky Movies one night... And what a belter it is! Its very much a psychological horror, with some very good twists in it, the best one being kept till the end of the film! Hence the reason that I now have this movie in my DVD collection
So if you want to watch a good horror movie, which takes place in this day and age, then you won't go far wrong with this one in my opinion - It will put you off pot-holing for life!
A rattling good yarn!
