Bought this as a fan of Love/Hate. Total rubbish! - Nidge is doing good theatre work and many of the Love/Hate cast have been going strong. I had high hopes for Peter Coonan but if he keeps making work choices like this he will be soon forgotten. I am a fan of Irish film but this lets the side down badly. DON't WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Promised so much, delivered so little - if Coonan's character was less comedic, and toned down, and Dempsy's character had more dialogue that would have been a good place to start. Generally all the ingredients are there for a really really good Irish Gangster flick , but sadly fails to tie it all together.

A well acted movie. It was quite violent as well as being funny in places. We found the strong Dublin accent difficult to follow. Being born in England, I really struggled to understand the speech patterns and my wife is Irish (Limerick) but even she found it difficult in places. This film would really benefit from having subtitles available in the DVD menu

This film is brilliant. Irish crime films tend to be a joke but Between the Canals is the real article. Lads from Love Hate are in it. A great low budget film with great script and cast.

Brilliant movie, very real portrayal of small crime in Dublin.

Peter Coonan (Fran from Love/Hate) and Damien Dempsey were especially good in it

Could have done with subtitles, found it very difficult to follow the dialect.
