Product Description

Product Description

Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertson direct this US comedy horror in which a rebellious girl enlists as a cheerleader with unexpected results. Maddy (Caitlin Stasey)'s instinctive dislike of cheerleading is consolidated when her friend Alexis (Felisha Cooper) dies during a cheerleading exercise. However, she feels compelled to become a cheerleader herself in order to teach a lesson to Alexis' ex-boyfriend Terry (Tom Williamson), who has already begun dating another cheerleader. Events take a startling turn when a fatal car crash and an ancient ritual add a supernatural element to Maddy's plot. Will anyone be able to stop the cheerleaders taking their revenge?

I actually really enjoyed this from start to finish, I wasn't expecting much from this movie but was quite entertained throughout, from the cool open sequence right up until the great ending! The story is pretty simple but plays out really well and keeps you interested, a bunch of high school cheerleader girls are partying out with some boys on the football team and a fight gets out of control as the girls are chased off the road in their car and killed, only to be brought back from the dead by their friend who practices dark voodoo and magic, soon the girls realise what has happened and go for their revenge, there's a few good little slight twists in the story too and a fantastic ending which is wide open for part 2! The cast is all good, some nice young cheerleader girls, the effects are all good and great fun, some bloody kills, nothing major gory, cool soundtrack too, for a low budget horror its money well spent, this is a bit more classy and better presented than your usual average cheap horror release, well worth picking up this one! its described as a horror comedy but its really not as I didn't laugh at any point, it has a few troma style moments but its more a Jennifer's body cross the craft type of movie!

DVD has good picture (Where is the Blu-ray? UK dumped on as usual)
DVD has a slipcase while stocks last.
No special features (how am I not surprised, a behind the scenes would have been cool, some of us like these movies)
Region 2 DVD, 85mins, 2013.

This is a film that showed early promise, was a great idea, but the actors, dialogue, and plot couldn't bring it on. The film starts out as a reality film as they watch and interview a cheerleader. When she is killed while performing "America's most dangerous sport" her friend Maddy (Caitlin Stasey) takes her spot with the intent of enacting revenge especially on football player Terry (Tom Williamson). Added to this mix is witch Leena (Sianoa Smit-McPhee) who makes things happen with stones and crystals that act like a Monkey's Paw.

The film takes 30 minutes to develop. It was good getting there. Once we entered into the meat of the film, the writers didn't know what to do. Or at least they didn't do it well. Character build up was mostly ineffective.

Asylum production. Okay as an inexpensive rental.

Parental Guide: F-bomb. Sex. Rape. Nudity (Reanin Johannink- or body double Mallory Thompson)

Seemingly a movie that is seeking to subvert the teen-slasher genre, this is actually a pretty bog-standard affair, with lashings of gore and horrific moments, a fair bit of titillation, and the tiresome jock/prom queen/nerd/Christian/stoner stereotypes all present and correct.

I wasn't expecting much really, some gore and maybe a little T&A for a Saturday evening, and things don't start of too good. Utterly obnoxious jocks (you'd want to round them up in a bus, drive them to a remote field and machine gun the lot) and a bunch of equally hideous (though easy on the eye) cheerleaders.

Thankfully though the movie takes a nice evil twist, Cheerleaders get killed in a car crash, get brought back as (sexy) Zombies (Woof!) by some supernatural witchcraft type stuff and extract revenge. A good humored body horror/slasher/zombie movie that delivers the bloody goods with a cool (we want a sequel) finale, good gory fun!

Better then average, dead girls come back for revenge from a car crash in a river. Plenty of bloody and gruesome scenes.
