I got this mouse 5 days ago from Amazon as a replacement for my tempremental Intellimouse Explorer as it seems that the Intellimouse Explorer design was retired by Microsoft.

Not liking the available Microsoft mice I had a look around Amazon.co.uk and decided to give the "Mionix Laser Gaming Mouse Equipped with 1800dpi Laser Technology and USB" a try as it seemed to be about the correct size for my relatively large hands and wasn't overly expensive for a product which hadn't really been reviewed.

I'd bought it mainly as a general use mouse, however I do game on the PC and thought that it was maybe time to move on from a non-gaming mouse.

On receipt I found that it was slightly smaller than I was expecting. I gave it a chance despite this and, although I'm not disappointed with it, I do have a couple of gripes:

- the two side buttons can be very easily clicked by accident when using the mouse because of where they're located on the curve. Had they been placed further up then this would probably have avoided most of the problem.

- The sensitivity buttons can also be easily pressed (although not as easily as I've only done this twice accidentally when not experimenting with the settings) and it's not a hassle to change back.

Part of the problem could be that, as I said above, my hands *are* relatively large, however there are some good features from my point of view:

- The mouse itself is comfortable to use.

- The scroll wheel lights up in different colours depending on which sensitivity it's set to so it's easy to tell which setting you're on (or if you've accidentally changed it).

- It's easy to change the sensitivity on the fly.

Overall I feel that it only deserves 4 stars, mainly because of the position of the side buttons.

This is a great mouse. I went through at least 5 mice before I ended up on this one. Its ergonomics are exelent. The mouse is "normal" sized and rests perfectly in my large hand (Large, but not thick hands).
The mouse has 7 different LED colours that light up the scroll wheel according to your DPI. The maximum DPI is more than adequate for most users. (Up to 1800, I use 1200)
My thumb rests under the side button, which is great, means I will not be accidentaly pressing them all the time.
The mouse is very responsive and looks great.

A few minor negatives I found on this mouse are:
-There is no CD in the package, so you have to download it from the internet to be able to configure the mouse DPI and advanced settings. The mouse however works just by pluging it in your USB port.
-The mouse does not work on PS/2 instead of USB. (Like most mice, I was expecting that and it is natural)
-You can't remove DPI steps through software. You can change the settings of each step, but you can't skip it. I for example needed only 2-3 DPI steps. You can't have that, you will have 7 steps. Not really a problem though as you can just use the last 2-3, put the DPI you want on them and just ignore the ones before that.

This mouse is the best by far, it is so ergonomic and fits to the hand so well. The colour changing LED is great too. I have a quad-core pc and play Crysis and other games like Oblivion and this mouse has made them incredibly enjoyable. Comfort,Sturdiness,Quality.
