About this item

  • The Sage Dual Boiler with commercial features delivers third wave specialty coffee at home using the 4 keys formula; It has a professional Dual Boiler construction that delivers unparalleled temperature control and simultaneous extraction and steaming
  • DOSE CONTROL GRINDING: Achieve a consistent and balanced espresso using the right amount of ground coffee; The 58mm porta-filter with 19-22 grams is the key for full flavour and third wave specialty coffee

  • LCD DISPLAY: Allows easy programming and has a espresso shot clock which displays shot duration that guides you to consistent extraction
  • INCLUDED ACCESSORIES: 58mm Razor Dosing Tool, 58mm Stainless Steel Portafilter, 1 Cup & 2 Cup Single and Dual Wall Filter Baskets, Integrated Tamper, 480ml Stainless Steel Milk Jug, Cleaning Kit, Water Hardness Test Strip, Water Filter Holder & Water Filter

Great results if you research your puck prep
Great machine with lots of flexibility to customise your coffee profile. Research your puck prep (dosage, grinder, distribution and tamping) and it'll produce better tasting coffee than most coffee shops. Please note I use a third party tamper and portafilter. Only negative is the machine can be noisy.

You can spend £ thousands on an espresso machine - and I did consider it!
I've moved up from a Bambino Plus because I wanted to be able to control brew temperature and pre-infusion. The larger drip tray and extra steam pressure are a definite bonus.
I probably wouldn't have done it if I didn't have a ready recipient for the Bambino and its associated 54mm gear - which still makes lovely coffee!
Be prepared for additional spending, you're going to need a new funnel, leveller and tamper because this is a grown up, full sized 58mm ecosystem.
Of course, I now need a new grinder to replace the Sage Smart Grinder Pro! It'll be interesting to see if anyone can discern the taste difference when the new DF64 V2 is added to the workflow.
I think the new grinder will make make bigger difference than the new coffee machine - but it looks splendid on my countertop.

I've had this machine now since April 2019. I've used it almost everyday (except when I'm away from home).
Before work, the auto timer wakes the machine so it's warm and ready to go before I get downstairs. Being a dual boiler, the ability to brew and steam was appealing to me. The reality however is that I can't multitask whilst operating the machine. The fact that you can use the steam instantaneously post brew saves a lot of time waiting around (as you would do on single boiler/thermoblock)

Lots of parameters to tweak: brew/steam temperature, pre-infusion, volumetric/time based brewing. You really can get the best out of your coffee with this, and friends have commented I can reproduce cafe flat whites at home.

Just ensure you have a grinder to match the standard that this machine requires. I have the mignon silenzio, a great pairing.

    Love this machine, great price.

I bought this machine as a retirement present to myself. Like others, I like the machine. It's solid, and looks robust. The coffee is good. You don't have to wait to use steam like some machines. You can even make the espresso and steam the milk at the same time. It has two boilers for that.

However, after nearly 5years, I notice that the motor/pump was going while it was heating up, and the area around the steam valve got very hot indeed. What I didn't know at the time was that those are indications that steam was escaping from poor joints in the top of the boilers, slowly ruining the insides. A few months later, after descaling the machine stopped working. The temperature went to 110 deg. C and would have continued if I hadn't switched it off.

The repairman opened the machine and I saw the extent of the damage. The bracket holding the steam valve was so rusted that he could not unscrew it to replace it. He also said the steam had blown one of the circuit boards. After checking with his office, he pronounced my machine incapable of repair. I paid £138 to learn that. He told me that leaking joints was a common cause of breakdown.

However good the coffee, it is poor value if such an expensive machine does not last.

    I am disappointed.

My husband and I have wanted this machine since we first saw it being demonstrated in the Oxford Street branch of John Lewis. We finally decided to buy the Dual Boiler as an early Christmas present to ourselves. It is amazing, the coffee tastes so much better than anything else we have tasted. We have had 3 Nespresso machines, 2 Tassimo machines and a Gaggia machine before but none of them come close to this one. We always used to have sugar in our coffee but no longer need it because the Dual Boiler is designed to ensure you never get a bitter tasting cup of coffee. I would not hesitate in recommending this machine, it heats up very quickly and is incredibly easy to keep clean. As part of the deal you also a 'white glove service', you simply call Sage and they arrange for someone to come out and show you how to use the machine and how to get the most out of it.

I have had several high end coffee machines to try and simulate proper coffee shop coffee, but never succeeded until now. This machine is so easy to use, but you have control over just how you want your coffee, the pressure gauge might seem like a sales gimmick but it certainly is not, it tells you if you have ground your beans too fine or too course also if you have tamped it down enough. If you buy freshly roasted beans (mail order) you will have your coffee just like your favourite coffee shop. PS I would also recommend the Sage bean grinder, it makes a great companion to it.
