This album is a good purchase for anyone who wants an interesting selection of music by the MJQ but doesn't want to buy lots of individual albums. There are twelve tracks on this well recorded CD taking tracks over the period 1958 - 1975. Every track is very good but some stand out just a little higher. There include the excellent version of "Django" (from 1960 Pyramid), Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman" (1962), "Night In Tunisia" (1958 with Sonny Rollins), "Adagio from Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" (1975 ; The Last Concert) and the ever popular "England's Carol" (aka God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"; 1972).
The personnel remains: John Lewis, Milt Jackson, Percy Heath and Connie Kay.

Outstanding. Well-selected and the recording quality is very good indeed. These guys are always easy to listen to, tasteful, not too obvious and inventive, all without that kind of in-your-face cleverness that sometimes comes at you from a jazz performance. I really, really liked this CD and can honestly think of only one reason you wouldn't love it too...if you really strongly dislike the vibraphone as an instrument. It's very often taking the principal melodic line.
